Would you pay to stay for one night in your childhood home

.... because mine is on air bnb!
It looks unrecognisable!
Tempted but also think I would find it sad.
I would never tell my parents I did it. I think they would find it weird.

No

MillicentBystandr · 09/08/2023 17:50

No. I’d pay to burn it down or drive a wrecking ball through it though.

Skulldrudgery · 09/08/2023 17:51

I would

Howmuchfurther · 09/08/2023 17:51

Yes

Burnamer · 09/08/2023 17:51

Which one? I had 9 before secondary school.
no thanks.

Ivalueloyaltyaboveallelse · 09/08/2023 17:52

No because my parents still live in it 😂

Kenough · 09/08/2023 17:52

I’d love to look around it but like you think I would feel a bit sad staying for a night for some reason.

Almahart · 09/08/2023 17:52

No, too strange

Flickersy · 09/08/2023 17:52

I would definitely, but I'm hopelessly sentimental.

VeterinaryCareAssistant · 09/08/2023 17:52

My parents still live in it

monpetitlapin · 09/08/2023 17:52

You couldn't pay me enough. Ick.

Missey85 · 09/08/2023 17:53

No thanks it's a town full of junkies and I'm glad I'm gone I'll never go back

RubiRage · 09/08/2023 17:54

No, it would be far too sad.

WitchDancer · 09/08/2023 17:55

No. I know they gutted it and redid the garden so most of the things I remember would be tarnished if I saw it now

LakieLady · 09/08/2023 17:56

Good god, no!

I have no desire to spend a night in a council flat on the roughest estate in Croydon.

Jaemoon · 09/08/2023 17:57

Nah, I could sleep in my childhood bedroom now, it’s still there. It was lovely and safe but I have moved on now. If my mum sold up I would never want to see it again, as home is wrapped up with my mum in my mind.

SM4713 · 09/08/2023 17:57

No- because my mum still lives in it!

WhaleSharkBootySweat · 09/08/2023 17:57

@Flickersy I am too. I have lovely memories of my childhood there with my mum

LauderSyme · 09/08/2023 17:57

No. Even if they offered to pay me, I'd have to think twice about it!

continentallentil · 09/08/2023 17:57

No.

It’s a place of very mixed memories

MsNorris · 09/08/2023 17:59

No my mum still lives in mine, would think it quite cheeky if she charged me. My kids think its great when they get to sleep in my old bedroom though.
I’d do it if I were you though!

Ihateboris · 09/08/2023 17:59

No. Too many bad memories - alcoholic stepfather, watching my beautiful, brave mum being beat to a pulp, and neighbours that didn't care less when I begged and pleaded for them to help.

SloraceHughorn · 09/08/2023 18:07

I would!

Someone my brother went to school with now lives in our old house and I really want him to ask if he'd mind us looking around again.

Hbh17 · 09/08/2023 18:08

God no. I wouldn't go there even if they paid ME.

Similarly -- the idea of my childhood home being anywhere anyone would AirBnb is very funny!
