Posting for traffic but packing list for DH hospital?

DH has just been told by GP to go to local hospital (I'm waiting outside so that's all I know yet). Have to collect dd and bring her to cycling in an hour so that's now off abs I need to get keys to neighbour for her instead.

But what should I throw in case for DH when we pass house en route to hospital?

Im guessing:
2 pair pj's
Dressing gown
Sliders
1 change clothes
Wash bag
Charging cables
Phone and iPad
Eye mask

Anything else sensible?
Thanks in advance...

Deodorant, shower gel, undies and socks, shoes he can put on without any dramas (slip on) Any regular medications he’s on. (They really need to see these) glasses

Balloonsandroses · 09/08/2023 16:43

Headphones might be good if he has some.

OrrAppleCheeks · 09/08/2023 16:44

I would say also AirPods/headphones/ear plugs as well. And maybe also something to read, and a travel mug.

Hope he’s ok, fingers crossed for a positive outcome

BarnacleBeasley · 09/08/2023 16:44

Hope everything's okay. I'd add a book and some snacks (including fruit).

TheInterceptor · 09/08/2023 16:44

Snacks and drinks, paracetamol.

LongLiveGoblingKing · 09/08/2023 16:45

A bottle of water
Snacks
A book
Your phone number written down in a piece of paper in case his phone does.
Toothbrush and paste

SeaToSki · 09/08/2023 16:46

ear plugs if you have them

download some content onto a device

a written list of his medical conditions, symptoms, allergies and medicines

Guiltyfeethavegotnorhythm0 · 09/08/2023 16:48

Pen/pencil ,ear plugs , some cash . Shower gel ,razor .

ISolemnlySwearIAmUpToNoGood · 09/08/2023 16:49

Some sort of handheld fan if you have one at home

PossiblyNotOne · 09/08/2023 16:50

Own medication he may be on. It’s hugely helpful.

Coronationstation · 09/08/2023 16:50

ear plugs
water bottle
comfy trackies / t-shirt
snacks
books / magazine / anything entertainment

babysoupdragon2 · 09/08/2023 16:51

If he's on any medication pack that, along with any recent letters from appointments.

Musicalmistress · 09/08/2023 16:51

My DH had an emergency hospital stay & I panicked and threw random stuff if a bag, not much of it was stuff he actually needed. To make myself feel better I now have an emergency list in notes on my phone, just in case 🤷🏼‍♀️

Pants
Socks
Slipper socks
Long Oodie
Pj bottoms & top
Trainers/slippers
Toilet bag (soap/shower gel, deo, shaving stuff, toothpaste/brush)
Trackie trousers
Jumper/T shirt
Kindle
Mob & kindle chargers plus plug
Earphones
Towel
earplugs

Glasses!

Blanca87 · 09/08/2023 16:52

A fan and cool pad as some wards are so hot. I know it sounds grim but even a photo of the family in his wallet. Snacks, coffee in a take away coffee cup and lots of water.

Musicalmistress · 09/08/2023 16:52

I'd also add snacks/water if he's able to eat & drink.
Also any meds he's currently on.

Wishitsnows · 09/08/2023 16:55

Snacks, drinks, mobile, paracetamol and ibuprofen in case he gets ignored for hours and in any pain.

RampantIvy · 09/08/2023 17:00

If he takes any painkillers he MUST let the hospital staff know if and when he took them.

I hope he is OK Flowers

Fraaahnces · 09/08/2023 17:03

I forgot, if he takes supplements like fish oil or ginkgo or St. John’s wort he needs to advise them also. Also biotin.

Caspianberg · 09/08/2023 17:05

Water bottle and snacks. Hospital cups are tiny and food not the most appealing. When I was in after having baby, best snacks were cashews, blueberries and shortbread

BiddyPop · 09/08/2023 18:06

Thanks all. Water and snacks are definitely added.

He's said just phone so no need to download content. But a power bank with the charging cable pls.

My number is a good call.

We had to go straight to local hospital where we're currently waiting for bloods results but he's been told he'll need to be admitted overnight (cellulitis but on his face near his eye, having had flu this week and Covid last week). He's never normally sick but he's totally worn out and run down so finishes work and - bam! (Happened when we got married too - over 20 years ago).

So I'm heading home to hear what happens, pack bag, feed dog, sport teen etc. And will be back down later...

And DH has just reminded me I need to put bins out 🤣

Wet wipes for easy freshening up and a lip balm to prevent chapped lips in the dry environment. Hope he's better soon.

HerculesMulligan · 09/08/2023 18:14

I'd take a pillow from home - NHS ones are horridly sweaty so they can be cleaned, and made my scalp prickle. As the cellulitis is on his face, I'd send a few clean but ancient pillowslips if you have them, so he can change them frequently and if they get marked you can bin them.

Whataretheodds · 09/08/2023 18:35

Pen and notebook in case he needs to record what the doctors say.
