If women snored like men

Caketea · 05/08/2023 01:37

If men were disturbed by snoring like women are, wibu to think it would be common that they’d be offered an operation to stop it?! Because I’m on a campsite and I can hear loud snoring from three tents, mine included. And I just feel women have to endure, as usual. Anyone?

(And I know some women snore…but it’s not the same!!)

I feel like this. If we share a bed I probably get an hour less sleep than him

When we first moved in together it was a nightmare because I kept trying to sleep next to him. Impossible. Was a nightmare. I woke each morning HATING him.

This was is much better for me.

Have you ever been in a hospital ward that's not maternity ? God the snoring !! Have earplugs in the house in case you ever get admitted . I once had to ask the nurses for a hot chocolate , cotton wool balls(for ears) and a sleeping tablet . Believe women can snore .

My maternity ward was full of women snoring so loudly I couldn’t sleep and had to be moved. They should’ve moved the snorers IMO

You cannot “hear” that it’s a man snoring from outside a tent. It’s literally impossible.

Exactly!

Men can be louder simply because their bodies are bigger, but it's not a given. Some women are LOUD. Unless you know which tents are occupied by men only, and are absolutely sure (maybe you walked past going for a late wee?) you won't know that it comes from those tents.

I snore . So does DH. We have separate bedrooms

Ditto 🙂

BMW6 · 05/08/2023 10:03

OP why would snoring be a problem related to a person's sex??

I’m sure OP is not saying that NO women snore, just that it’s mostly men. Which is statistically true.

No partner (male or female) should have to put up with lack of sleep due to snoring, due to some perceived societal notion that couples have to share a bed. Separate rooms is the way to go!

SophiaElise · 05/08/2023 10:17

There's no operation that reliably gets rid of snoring with no serious side effects.

The treatment is typically CPAP or BiPAP... or separate rooms.

I can’t hear any women snoring tonight but that’s not the point of the post!

How on earth do you know? You can hear people snoring, unless you're sticking your head in their tent you have no idea whether they're men or women.

Me and DP both snore. She's louder than I am (we've tested with a decibel meter as part of a bet, I got to choose the holiday destination because I won). However, I'm the one who gets elbowed in the ribs because I can sleep through her and she can't sleep through mine.

The very worst snorers I ever came across were women. One was my paternal grandmother, with whom my sister and I once had to share a bedroom when she came on a family holiday with us as children. We got no sleep for the entire week.

The other was my MIL. The house literally shook, but she didn't believe she snored until one day on a weekend away she shared a hotel room with a friend. Friend got no sleep at all that night and next morning gave MIL both barrels. MIL finally believed us (begrudgingly) and was mortified.

You cannot possibly know whether the snoring you can hear from other tents is coming from men or women, unless you have gone and stuck your head in to look!

I am aware that I can snore if I sleep on my back so I make a point of lying on my side to fall asleep. I usually wake up in the same position hours later.

Readingineading · 05/08/2023 10:24

I snore like a chainsaw if I sleep on my back.

Dombasle · 05/08/2023 10:29

Women snores are just as loud as male snorers but men tend to sleep on their backs more so their tends to be a higher proportion of male snorers.

Saturnssister · 05/08/2023 10:32

I had a female guest who snored so loudly that everything in my house vibrated. It was torture.

golddustwomen · 05/08/2023 10:38

I snore worse than any man I've ever met.

vdbfamily · 05/08/2023 10:41

I have tried for years to get my GP to help with my snoring, to no avail, so I won't go camping, and we now have separate bedrooms as DH can't sleep through the noise and we both wake up exhausted as he had to keep waking me to stop the noise.

fibeee · 05/08/2023 10:52

My husband wears ear plugs to bed so he can sleep through my snoring 😳

DinnaeFashYersel · 05/08/2023 10:53

I am woman who snores. My DH (man) does not.

Hankunamatata · 05/08/2023 10:56

Menopause/peri has made me snore so badly, I get so embarrassed.

Cas112 · 05/08/2023 11:03

I've only ever been disturbed by one person snoring and that was my friend.. a woman 🤷🏽‍♀️

Gettingbysomehow · 05/08/2023 11:17

I do snore like men but I have a CPAP machine because I don't want a heart attack or a stoke.

Caketea · 05/08/2023 11:18

You lot haven’t been on enough cub camps.

Name changed.

I snored.

I was wired up to machines and tested for the level of snoring etc.

I've had an operation for it and had my uvula removed and stents put in my soft palete to stop it vibrating so much.

I still snore!

I read one of these words very very incorrectly.

My mum snores terribly, she has receive complaints in hotelsbl before 🤣

SomethingBlues · 05/08/2023 11:25

My mother is one of the worst snorers I’ve ever met. The sound is like a bagpipe trying to mate with a chainsaw. It’s hellish and I dread it if we have to go somewhere and share a room.
