Mine would be breached within seconds. Even the strong ones Shock

2 mins 😣

WannaBeRecluse · 04/08/2023 11:44

Don't give clues to your passwords.

thecatsthecats · 04/08/2023 11:48

Yes. But then I am a data protection and cyber security specialist - though I have encountered many who are lax.

I also seem to have a knack for generating them off the top of my head with little difficulty.

Million+ years three random words or groups of letters 2 numbers and 2 characters. Simples

MissCherryCakeyBun · 04/08/2023 11:49

Okay that should be Trillion++

HappilyContentTheseDays · 04/08/2023 11:51

Mine is 226 years. Seems fine to me. And that goes for all my passwords as I have a different one for every single account/bank/shopping site/work emails and so on.

I didn't used to; years ago I used something very simple and the same password for every site. Looking back, it was exceptionally stupid of me but fortunately my son explained the error of my ways and he was right (this once, anyway!)

FarmGirl78 · 04/08/2023 11:51

Mine would be breached within seconds. Even the strong ones.

OP, You have a loose definition of the word 'strong'. 🤣

User1755387908 · 04/08/2023 11:53

I use the Apple keychain one as all my devices are Apple, it was irritating though when I had to type one of these into the TV to watch one of the streaming apps.

Gnomegnomegnome · 04/08/2023 11:55

15k years.

legsjusttoomanylegs · 04/08/2023 12:03

Another vote for Bitwarden one master LONG password and it generates passwords and you can set the length. Dh works in IT with highly secure information and listens to security podcasts. He set it all up for all of us, Dh and I share the account and our teen children have their own Bitwarden accounts. Our wifi password is 63 characters long and no, we never give it out to anyone.

Bitwarden also allows you to tick boxes for automatic fill in or needing the master password again for copying the password. We have it as 2 factor so on the phone or the computer it needs another code from your phone. All our passwords are over 16 characters, sometimes websites limit you, booo.

Aria20 · 04/08/2023 12:06

53 years - 12 characters - upper, lower and numbers, if I have to add a symbol I just add it on the end. Yes I know it's terrible to use same password for most things - it's not my password to online banking though only for other apps/shops.

GarlicGrace · 04/08/2023 12:12

I use a password manager. My password for the manager would take 2 trillion years to crack AND it prompts me for a 2-factor authorisation every month 😂

The 2-trillion-year password isn't complicated at all, it's just long! A good trick is to think of a short phrase you'll remember that has a name and a number in it. Or a sentence you'll never forget, then use just the first letters of each word.
eg:
Baby George was born in 2022 (23 characters without spaces)
or
I divorced that cheating bastard Nigel on my 36th birthday and it was the best present I could wish for (IdtcbNom36baitwtbpIcwf - 22 characters).

aintnospringchicken · 04/08/2023 12:14

15k years.Good luck with cracking that. I'll be long gone🤣

theemmadilemma · 04/08/2023 12:15

My general passwords are instant.

Work domain 226 years...

Duchessofspace · 04/08/2023 12:16

1 million year. Numbers, letters upper and lower, symbols and then numbers again 😂

AnxiouslyWait · 04/08/2023 12:18

They’re all way longer than I’ll ever live so happy with that

TeenDivided · 04/08/2023 12:19

Is this a way of working out whose accounts to try to hack? Smile

Im99912 · 04/08/2023 12:25

I’m on level 11 & 13 depending on which passwords I use.

generally mine are symbol 2 -4 numbers and then the letters which starts with a capital

i have a few passwords same set up but different words
I use a mix of old telephone numbers that I know longer have but remember and st names

parietal · 04/08/2023 12:26

The xkcd comic posted above is great. I use that principle for everything. I have 1Password for all the 100s of random shops etc and then remember the secure xkcd passwords for my home and work email.

BringOnSummerHolidays · 04/08/2023 12:26

Yes because I tend to use 18+ characters. I just use a password manager and their random password generator.

Upanddownthemerrygoround · 04/08/2023 12:31

Mine are in the yellow and orange categories.

as an example…

I try and have two or six song lyrics - or a phrase - which I then do interesting things with!

ItAh2o6SL-OAP-WItditw!

but more and more auto generated passwords with a vault.

tennesseewhiskey1 · 04/08/2023 12:34

Mine are the longest and autogenerated as well - except I always add one extra one at the end.

User1755387908 · 04/08/2023 12:34

I think more people nowadays use a password manager as websites are needing far more complicated passwords and how would you remember them all

TooOldForThisNonsense · 04/08/2023 12:36

For work yes ours need to be 16 characters minimum and a combo of lower case, upper case, numbers and special characters

toastofthetown · 04/08/2023 12:38

I also use iCloud Keychain. It does lock me into Apple’s ecosystem, but I’m happy there. It so convenient. Passwords share across all my Apple devices, I can AirDrop passwords to my husband for accounts he needs to access too and it’s fully integrated into their system.
