What do I want for my birthday???

SunnyCornishCove · 03/08/2023 16:34

I'm fast approaching my 50th birthday and I've been asked what I want. No clue! If I want something I buy it.
I'm shamelessly posting for traffic - ideas welcome. Budget up to £200 ish. Give me some ideas please?

It's their birthday, they have asked for ideas. It's really not a crime.

Never said it was. That's an overreaction as baffling as the original question.

Lego Train Set.
Obviously.
😂
Seriously what sort of things do you like and do?

Opened this thread for ideas for mine and audibly gasped at this..... It's EXACTLY what I want. Thank you!!!

Flisss · 03/08/2023 17:07

@DappledThings 🤣

BMrs · 03/08/2023 17:11

Why not have an experience instead? Spa break, theatre tickets, uk city break or a night away somewhere you've wanted to visit.

Dixiechickonhols · 03/08/2023 17:15

The Lego flowers, bonsai and orchid have all been great. I’m not a trains fan though.

ginny93 · 03/08/2023 17:18

Jewellery/perfume are good because you often don't splurge so much on them when it's for yourself (or maybe you do, in which case good for you!!)

Tickets to a play/concert/show etc., maybe with a dinner before and/or hotel stay after?

Or just ask DH to surprise you - make him think of something!

Cerealkillerontheloose · 03/08/2023 17:19

It was my 45th birthday this week and I asked for a VR set

thst and my favourite perfume has been the best present I’ve ever had!! 😂

Duchessofspace · 03/08/2023 17:20

I’m 50 next week and I don’t have a DH. I do have lovely children but not with their own money I was going to give them about £100 to go and buy me a sundial but I got a beautiful stone one for free yesterday via Facebook and it’s gorgeous. So actually I’m watching this thread - I don’t want jewellery so am now thinking new riding boots and jodhpurs 😂as mine are literally 20 years old and the jodhpurs certainly don’t fit properly

quietnightmare · 03/08/2023 17:21

Experience day

Dinner at the shard

Sky diving - indoor probably for that price

Botox

Teeth whitening

Sports course - yoga, Pilates etc

Any course - clay making, pottery, sewing, cooking, language etc

Night in a cinema pod - look up cozy cinema

Dry slope skiing

Spa day with a friend / husband

Car valet

Air fryer

TheWayoftheLeaf · 03/08/2023 17:21

Do you like crafts? An ink painting set, embroidery kits, clay pottery set. All quite fun and relaxing.

Otherwise id go for jewellery or new AirPods.

Dombasle · 03/08/2023 17:25

If august is your birth month, what about some Peridot earrings?

Auntieofdragons · 03/08/2023 17:25

For my 40th I wanted to update my everyday makeup look a bit. I booked a mac appointment and it was great. They basically do the consultation for fee as long as you spend X amount on cosmetics. The lady asked me what kind of look I wanted, how long I wanted to take getting ready etc then she got a load of products that would suit me and put them on me and described how to do it myself. Then I had to decide which of the products to buy- spent about £150 on the basics. Could easily have spent another £100 or so on brushes etc

dynastyfan · 03/08/2023 17:29

Dh bought me a diamond initial bracelet by Annoushka at Libertys for my 50 th .
It's absolutely gorgeous and not something I would have chosen myself but whenever I wear it I think of him and how lovely what he chose for me is.

mademostlyofchocolate · 03/08/2023 17:29

Hi OP, I totally get why you are asking, it's as much to help the buyer of the present as it is to find something for you!
For my last big birthday my adult earning children wanted to buy me something nice and we thought long and hard about a memorable useful present.
They bought me a lovely armchair and matching footrest from next, a little over your budget but you could get second hand.
I've managed to squeeze it into my bedroom and I just love lounging in it or reading in it . Practical but comforting!
Enjoy your special day!

Maxiedog123 · 03/08/2023 17:40

I got a bicycle, one of those vintage looking ones with a basket. It's just something I wanted I probably wouldn't buy for myself.

IbizaToTheNorfolkBroads · 03/08/2023 18:54

I'd like a new sleeping bag and a Jetboil.
But that's me.

We have a Jetboil and I was sceptical given the price but I have to say, it's bloody brilliant!

thentheycameforme · 03/08/2023 20:44

A lovely experience that's a bit beyond justifying for yourself, I would choose tastefilm or similar but depends on your interests

Mary46 · 03/08/2023 20:51

Hi op how about afternoon tea, nice art or jewellry. Perfume. These are what I liked.

Chickenwing2 · 03/08/2023 21:03

A spa day!!

gogomoto · 03/08/2023 21:05

Same predicament!

Me - I don't know. I've got a fancy hotel booked though

Workawayxx · 03/08/2023 21:08

My birthday is soon and I’d like a really beautiful long wool dark green coat (like the red baker one but it’s not available in dark green this year). Also an air fryer/pressure cooker/slow cooker combo like the ninja goodie max. Last year Dp got me a beautiful bright orange mulberry purse that still looks brand new.

BeaLola · 03/08/2023 21:15

Chanel limited edition compact mirror (online only)

Rose or robina tree for garden

Mulberry purse

foulksmills · 03/08/2023 21:18

Dappled Things is still wondering when her uncle is going to give her her nose back.

Diversion · 03/08/2023 21:20

A flower subscription, I love flowers, perhaps a delivery once a fortnight for 2 months or something similar. Something off your Amazon wish list if you have one, I put lots on there which makes it easy for people to choose things but then I dont do fancy jewellery, expensive toiletries or perfume or handbags etc.
