How often do you see friends? And do hobbies?

I feel like I’m getting a bit lazy but weekdays are so busy with work, after work I just want to crash. Then weekends I want to chill!! How often does everyone else see friends or do hobbies?

I see friends without kids maybe every 2-3 months and try to arrange play dates with mum friends at least once a month. I’m probably different to a lot of you though as I choose not to leave my child to do things and I have autism so I probably think differently 🤷‍♀️

As for hobbies I actually enjoy doing things with my child so all the time if you count that and if not I fit in things like reading, baking, writing and scrapbooking when I have the time and end energy

Once your kids start growing up ie secondary school age they naturally want to spend free time with friends so that frees up more time to spend on your own interests. Maybe refrain from judgey comments about leaving kids while mums do their own hobbies.
Some of us need some time to enjoy our own hobbies for our mental health!

My children are teenagers and do hobbies, sports and see their friends too. Even though I see friends, I still spend time with my partner and my children. They join me in some of my hobbies and there’s a lot of hours in the week to do things with different people. My children are very close to my friends and to their children, as when they were little, we also all mixed a lot together with our kids. We actually all go away together as friends with our partners and children.

I don’t know if you meant it as judgey as others have taken it, you said you are autistic so maybe didn’t realise that is how it came across? My daughter is autistic so I know things don’t always come out as she means them.

That’s different though as I won’t have the choice to spend so much time with him at that stage in his life as he will be off doing other things. I wasn’t judging anyone, just saying what I do 🤷‍♀️

I didn’t say you or anyone else didn’t spend time with their children/families. I assume I will have hobbies without children when mine are no longer little kids 🤷‍♀️ It must be nice to have such close friendships like that. I get too much anxiety and can’t socialise with other adults for long periods of time 🤷‍♀️

No, I wasn’t judging anyone I just find it easier and more enjoyable to do things with my child than other adults 🤷‍♀️

@ToddlerSAHM No worries, I understand how much anxiety comes with being autistic for many people and that socialising can be difficult. 😊
