Lots on here recently about kids having meltdowns and parents struggling at the start of the summer break.

My kids have been absolute knobs today, nothing major just general teenagerness.

Cheer us all up with some lovely braggy stories of something nice your kids have done.

Im poorly so went to bed early last night. DS (6) brought me up a glass of water and made up a bedtime story for me.

Wishihadanalgorithm · 27/07/2023 20:46

DD (9) brushed the dog’s teeth and then gave the dog her worming tablets (wrapped in pate which DD sorted out). Not a biggie maybe but little jobs which saved me the effort.

She has been quite good company in general today.

BlowDryRat · 27/07/2023 21:17

I've been properly ill all week. 10yo DD made me a beautifully-presented lunch on Monday.

Moraldilemma84 · 27/07/2023 21:23

Younger ones have been the usual level of annoyingness and squabbling.

But my eldest who is 18 was late home from work as on his way home he found an old lady who had fallen and he helped her up and got her home safely and made sure she was ok.

Ds6 passes me little notes and pictures of me all day everyday at the moment

VerityUnreasonble · 27/07/2023 21:36

Dd has just finished her degree and done really well. At work today (newish job related to her degree) she got some amazing feedback from a really senior manager for an initiative she'd taken and they're going to implement it as standard practice moving forward.

Ds just makes me laugh all the time. I felt a bit rubbish and headachy earlier but he just came and sat with me and told me all sorts of "facts" which really cheered me up.

shitafrick · 27/07/2023 21:46

My 4 year old told me that I'm the best mummy in the world & that all the other mummies look funny to him (😅.) Was having a bit of a bad day & struggling with feeling like a really shitty, moany parent so it did cheer me up.

cadburyegg · 27/07/2023 21:49

DS1 said that his favourite person in the world was DS2.

In a sweet shop, DS2 picked up a big chocolate lolly saying "best mum" and told me I should have it. (I still had to pay for it myself but...!)

Ds14 cooked dinner lasts weekend without being asked. I was tutoring (online) all day and I was exhausted at the thought of cooking dinner after, and I finished and he had it all served up.

From DD2 aged 17 yesterday. On the end of a complaint about other youngsters being useless.

I went upstairs this evening and discovered my 7 year old son reading to my 5 year old daughter. They bicker all the time but then they do things like this and I remember that they do love each other really!

SorryIDoNotKnowThatOne · 27/07/2023 22:47

DD, 8 years old, Played in her room for an hour this afternoon while I had a nap to let migraine pills work. Came in briefly after half an hour to ask how I felt, with genuine sympathy. When I got up at 4.49pm, she said “hello, I was going to come and check on you in 11 minutes” and asked if I felt better, which I did.

whatisheupto · 27/07/2023 22:53

A mum at the park told me "you've got really nice kids" just before she left, after they had been playing really kindly with her much younger child. It made me think 'yes, yes I do!'

Fairymother · 27/07/2023 23:07

Went on a hike today with my 2 kids (7&8) and a few nieces and nephews (all under 6). There were 10kids in total and one of them was always crying or throwing a fit.
When we sat down for our picnic my 8 year old hugged me and said he feels for me because kids really seem like a handful. And he apologised in case he caused me the same stress when he was little.
It was really sweet so i couldnt tell him that hes often still causing me stress now 😅

LondonQueen · 27/07/2023 23:18

DS tidied the playroom this morning, got up and did it all by himself! DD slept through the morning before undoing all DS's work... They had fun though so that's all that matters.

Caketea · 28/07/2023 07:47

DD13 came on a walk with me and asked me how my day was. DD11 thanked me for tidying his room while he was at a club.

kikisparks · 28/07/2023 08:07

21 month old DD saw I had bare feet and went off and got me some socks from a washing pile. They don’t match 😆 but I’m wearing them proudly. She also fetched my dressing gown for me.

BellaJuno · 28/07/2023 08:18

My house has 4 storeys and on a daily basis, my youngest will go to the other floors to fetch whatever I ask him to. Weird kid loves the stairs 😂

bluechameleon · 28/07/2023 08:40

We came home from a few days away last night. I told the DC (8 and 5) I needed them to play without arguing or making a mess because I was anxious about getting all the packing and cleaning done in time. They volunteered to help me and did lots of jobs.
