Bored and having the worst headache and flu, watching travel and expat videos on tiktok and everywhere seems so amazing (at least compared to how I’m feeling right now😆) and I was wondering what countries would be great to live in?

I’d like to move to the States. I love all the space and the car culture. But the food puts me off.

Wheresmyrobe · 25/07/2023 17:30

England

HundredMilesAnHour · 25/07/2023 17:31

Australia, more specifically Tasmania or Kangaroo Island.

cariadlet · 25/07/2023 17:32

Costa Rica

StillNoFuckingEyeDeer · 25/07/2023 17:32

does the food put you off more than the guns?

Dotcheck · 25/07/2023 17:32

Italy
and today I learned that Bhutan’s gdp is happiness- how cool is that?

Newnamenewname109870 · 25/07/2023 17:33

Canada in so many ways. Has the beauty and ‘positives’ of America but is not insane. People so polite and friendly, the seasons, the scenery. 😍

WhatADrabCarpet · 25/07/2023 17:36

If we were forced to relocate, it would be Canada.

egowise · 25/07/2023 17:38

Italy

Idratherbepaddleboarding · 25/07/2023 17:38

Australia for the beach lifestyle. I want to surf and wear shorts every day!

Wheresmyrobe · 25/07/2023 17:39

Those who are saying Canada might want to do some research about what's going on there.

Parents being banned from seeing their children because they won't medically transition them.

Medical assistance in dying being offered to 18 year olds with mental health issues.

And a mad man in charge.

LetMeGoogleThat · 25/07/2023 17:43

Italy, because I love it!

SlideandPolka · 25/07/2023 17:46

Do you mean actually great to live in, or sort of TikTok-able sun, sea, sangria stuff, though? I’ve lived in various parts of the US, UK, France, SA, the ME, and I love living in my native part of Ireland above anywhere else I’ve spent significant time, but that’s because it suits me — lively cultural/literary scene, great for music, gorgeous coastline and mountains, excellent cheese and produce, nice mix of people. Someone who liked reliably dry, hot weather wouldn’t like it here, for instance.

The other place I’ve loved living was London. Again, every London thread on here is full of baffled and hostile posters wondering how anyone can live there. Nowhere is for everyone.

Keykaty · 25/07/2023 17:47

Where I am right now. Moving somewhere else on a permanent basis can work for some people, but it wouldn't be for me.

However, if I was forced to make a choice because I HAD to leave here then I reckon it would be Pyrenees/Basque Region/Northern Spain. Great lifestyle, great food, and they get RAIN!

OrangeBlossomsinthesun · 25/07/2023 17:51

Most places can be amazing if you have enough money

For any reason!
Whatever reason people find living there to be desirable and if you/they want to give reasons, please do!
I haven’t traveled much and only lived in the country I was born in, so anything and everything people want to share is very much appreciated and I love everything that has to do with food!
😊

France.

just come back from a holiday in the US and zero desire to live there. Parts are great and we had a good holiday but don’t like the car dominance, the ridiculous food portions, the polarization snd of course the guns.

SamW98 · 25/07/2023 18:00

It’s been my dream for many many years to retire to Greece. Obviously not looking ideal right now but I fell in love with the country on my first visit 35 years ago and 30+ holidays since hadn’t dampened my passion.

TheTurn0fTheScrew · 25/07/2023 18:01

Germany, if I could speak better German. I don't want to live somewhere hot. My (no doubt very superficial) impression of Germany is of great green spaces, slightly greener/more socially democratic politics, good public transport, good working conditions, decent public healthcare, and probably the world's best classical music scene. Plus Currywurst, chips and beer to seal the deal.

BigMandsTattooPortfolio · 25/07/2023 18:02

Irish Republic. Either that or Finland.

Madeinessex · 25/07/2023 18:03

Canada. The scenery, the life style. 🇨🇦🍁 But possibly only once the mad man is not in power.

I will bide my time in Bali while I wait, just for the experience.

TenOhSeven · 25/07/2023 18:04

I'd love to live in Sweden.

oldwhyno · 25/07/2023 18:04

Maybe somewhere in France as I'm better with the language, but I think probably northern Spain. Not quite sure where though.

No way!
I’m Finnish!
Can I ask why Finland?

Everywhere seems messy right now. But I think I was the happiest when I lived in Scotland.
