Does anyone have the bad habit of reading Mumsnet instead of reading actual books?

I often have great intentions of sitting down and chilling out with a book, but inevitably end up on Mumsnet instead.
AIBU - no, I still read books.
AINBU - me too! Can't help it, '10 mins' turns into a lot longer

Like a PP said, it's natural to pursue enjoyment. MNetting is reading, just a modern form of it and clearly more engaging than a book for many of us.

By our very nature, we seek endorphin boosts and I don't honestly think debate, news, opinion written well, when it is written with decent grammar and spelling is going to shrivel our brains.

On the other hand, remember the old sms messaging we used to use to 'save digits'? For example " wot du want4ur bday?". I swear I forgot how to spell after a couple of years of text speak! 😅 Glad that's a thing of the past and I tell my teens off if ever they message me using text talk! 😅

I've found that sitting outside in the sunshine, where it's too bright to see my screen no matter how much I turn it up, definitely encourages me to read a book. I'm hoping to continue the habit into Autumn and Winter too. I've also recently bought some lovely bookmarks from art galleries I visited this summer, which I think helps too.
