Just that. DD has developed early. Size C bra and 5'6 already at 11. So size of a woman but wants to wear kids clothes that are not focussing on her new found shape.

All we can find are teen/twenty year old revealing figure hugging stuff or mumsy stuff.

Which shops do we need to look at oh wise mumsnet? Best we've found so far is new look and superdry but need a few more options.

I started buying my girls small womens at this age as the gap is soo wide between little girls and teens soo awkward! Primarni trip?

DragonflyLady · 23/07/2023 10:24

My 12 year old is five foot four and an F cup. She has very long legs. She buys from Primark and New Look mostly. Also from supermarket adult clothes. She likes Shein too. But again, from the grown up section. She’s not one for wearing crop tops or those short-shorts that a lot of her peers wear. She likes Run & Fly clothes too. Also she steals my stuff!

Ohforfox · 23/07/2023 10:25

New look is tiny in sizing - I assume she will be wearing the adults clothing but the child's sizes are extremely tiny! Can you show us examples of what she likes & we can find you things? My DD also has hips and wears a bra at age 9 so I understand your pain. Luckily for me she is very body confident and wears whatever she likes still!

Greengagesnfennel · 23/07/2023 10:34

Thanks for the suggestions. We've not tried primark. She likes shorts (jeans) and then mostly wears t shirts with them tucked in the waist because we are struggling to find tops to go with them. She is absolutely against crop tops (paranoid about belly even though she doesn't really have one). Size 12. And she likes long dresses. Bought one the other day will see if I can find a link...we're looking for a few nice outfits for restaurants on holiday that aren't just her staple of a t-shirt.

That is adult size 12 BTW (not age 12 appreciate re reading that may be confusing as she is 11)

Mine was probably even harder as she was curvy but short.
New look and primark, for sure. Mine had one or two things from the boden teen range, I don't know what they're like now. Also it turned out M&S had jeans she liked that fitted her - not everything they do is 'mumsy'.

Then knocked the Johnny B teen range on the head a few years ago.

ArseInTheCoOpWindow · 23/07/2023 11:01

That Johnny B range was good. I used to get loads of stuff from that.

BooksAndHooks · 23/07/2023 11:08

Primark and H&M. My daughter loves al l the Primark Disney bits in the women’s section.

Destinedforfakeness · 23/07/2023 11:09

Asos, shein and monki spring to mind for fun and young stuff. I like to wear colourful things so ship there.

Also you could try cider and maybe boohoo?

CakeMonster100 · 23/07/2023 11:09

Tu (Sainsburys) and Marks go up to an age 15 for their kids clothes. Not for everything but it does us for t shirts and joggers and skirts for my similar tween. I'd recommend going for the boys tshirts though for extra length. You have to mostly order online to the the sizes but easy to return in store if they don't work. A ladies small in Asda or Primark also works for basics.

continentallentil · 23/07/2023 11:10

Have you tried H&M - that always looks quite oversized and tomboy to me. Also ASOS.

IhearyouClemFandango · 23/07/2023 11:11

We tend to stick to new look, gap, Jack Wills etc. She's quite preppy in style. Rapanui for basics.

NancyJoan · 23/07/2023 11:12

Tu in Sainsburys has some really nice clothes at the moment. Monki great for dresses, shorts and probably tops.

continentallentil · 23/07/2023 11:12

I also think you might find m and s jeans and t shirt sweatshirt type basics work well. Look online - their shops are rubbish.

Invisimamma · 23/07/2023 11:12

Tik tok shop has loads of dresses in that sort of style.

BoohooWoohoo · 23/07/2023 11:14

M&S and H&M have teen ranges that go up to age 16 and 14+ that have items that could belong in the younger age range. Next also has a teen range.
Have you had any luck at the supermarkets? Iirc the odd one goes up to age 12 or 14?

allinor · 23/07/2023 11:15

If urban outfitters is in your budget that might be good. Modest but not mumsy. Always some bits on sale on their website

UncleBryn · 23/07/2023 11:15

What about a white boho skirt long or short and a nice top, short flowery skirt, strappy dress, playsuit? Primark has been ok for tops but that's about all. Have a look on Shien, there is always something on there! Returns are free and easy.

FantasticallyFabulous · 23/07/2023 11:17

Have you tried Hollister? They have tops and dresses which might work for her.
