To ask about this Ryanair flight

I've booked for my 18 year grandaughter to visit me, from UK to a different country. But because I've done it on my app will it be difficult for her to retrieve the booking at check-in time or would I be able to email the boarding pass. Would that be acceptable? Appreciate anyone who can help. 🙂

You can check her in and download the boarding pass for printing and rail it to her

MidsummerDream · 21/07/2023 10:50

Can she not install the app on her phone and then just use it to board? This is ryanair we are talking about. You don’t want to cause massive stress if they don’t accept it.

Peony654 · 21/07/2023 10:50

Whenever I've checked in at the airport, I just handed over passport and they use that to print boarding pass - or just email to her.

MidsummerDream · 21/07/2023 10:51

It is far handier to have it electronically. I wouldn’t send a hard copy

This is ryanair. They save money by not printing it off. Don’t they charge you to print it off?

Glorieta · 21/07/2023 10:52

I travelled with Ryanair last week and some airports want printed passes, others will accept the boarding pass on your phone.

Either way email it to her and she can print or save to phone (or like me do both)

MissAmbrosia · 21/07/2023 10:53

Yes - you can email the copy. She just needs the booking reference to do the online check in.

MidsummerDream · 21/07/2023 10:53

Ryanair will use any excuse to be difficult. Just get her to download the app and she can log in as you on her phone and have it installed.

Lammveg · 21/07/2023 10:53

Can she download the app and log in to download the boarding pass?
She can print a hard copy aswell if needed

Havanananana · 21/07/2023 10:53

You can download the boarding pass and then email it to her - but only after she has been checked in online (i.e. you need to do this, so you'll need her passport details).

Watching queues at Stansted last weekend it looked like people with paper copies were getting through the gates much quicker than those faffing around trying to find the pass on their phones (and paper boarding cards do not run out of battery) so suggest that she prints a copy as well as having it on her phone.

ilovemydogmore · 21/07/2023 10:54

You need to check-in for her 24 hours before (or a week before if you pay for a seat). Then simply take a screenshot and send it to her via whatsapp or email. This will be fine. All she needs is the QR code so they can scan it.

roses2 · 21/07/2023 10:54

This is Ryanair - they charge for anything and everything.

You will need to check her in, email her the boarding pass and she will need to scan this at the airport.

Ryanair difficult? 😂 Exactly, I don't want any stress for her at the airport.

All she has to do is download app and set herself up. Search for booking with the ref number and email address used to book. She will then have full control of the booking to check in and download boarding card.

KittytheHare · 21/07/2023 10:56

I fly Ryanair a lot, and I’ve never printed a hard copy of my boarding pass. Ime it’s the people faffing about with paper copies who cause the most delays.

But will it scan off an email?

Just screenshot her boarding pass and send it to her? That’s what I do at the airport so DH has his on his phone.

KittytheHare · 21/07/2023 10:59

@Castlerock44 boarding pass will scan off email or screenshot.

Sgtmajormummy · 21/07/2023 11:00

They send you a PDF copy of your boarding cards. Send that to her by email and she can choose to keep it on her phone or print it. The QR code is the important bit for the airport (and her seat number).

The only trouble with that is. I've stupidly forgotten my password for the email address the app is under and I'm finding it impossible to get another.

Do they accept screenshots?

As pp said get her to download the app, then give her your account details and password so she will have all the details in her own phone and can check in etc herself. That's what I did when I was travelling with my adult dds recently on a flight I had booked.

Bluesclues1 · 21/07/2023 11:01

Can’t she just download the app and then use the booking reference (should be in the confirmation emails) and last name to retrieve the booking and boarding passes?

Deadringer · 21/07/2023 11:02

Sorry crosspost. Screenshots worked fine for my younger dd, but I would keep trying with the password just in case.

You can definitely check her in and screen shot the boarding cards and send them by WhatsApp- I did this successfully for my mum a fee weeks ago.
