To think if AI becomes able to take over 100% of jobs we will live in a utopia

I know people are worried that AI could take over jobs right now and yes it would be very problematic if it were only taking over some or most jobs as we’d still need money, but if it took all, it’s a different story.

If AI did every job, all humans would be out of work which means no one would be getting paid. However, money is only an incentive to work and if we don’t work, we don’t need money (AI obviously will work for free and do anything we want for free). If money doesn’t exist, then poverty won’t exist. If poverty doesn’t exist, crime will be almost completely eliminated as there’s be no incentive.

If AI did every job, every human on the face of the earth could do what we want, when we want and for free. It would be a utopia. Thoughts?

It already exists and is leading to more real life abuse of children, not less. See reports in today’s newspapers.
Also, there is no international agreement yet on preventing AI being connected to lethal weapons. Without that the future looks a little different.

AI will 100% be used in military applications.

I think there'll be an energy crash long before then.

Yep. With every tech revolution, the rich get richer and poor get poorer.

Yep.

Hmm no. The people in charge would get rid of superfluous. I mean this is already a very popular conspiracy theory. In my opinion the whole transhumanist AI future thing is just a pipe dream. I have been very wrong about Future things though (should have bought Bitcoin when I thought it was a daft idea).

Ok, great. But my friends & I, hypothetically, we own the AI.

You, however, do not. You don't contribute anything of value - the AI does whatever it is you trained to do.

Not necessarily much point keeping you around, is there? You & your family are just hungry mouths. Bad for the planet, really. It would be much better just to have a tiny human population figuring out how to breed tigers back from extinction, say. Much prettier & cooler than all those unnecessary people who are foolishly expecting to be kept in idleness forever mooching from wall pilates to museum to calligraphy class.

In this hypothesis I'd totally be toast early on, btw!

See Douglas Adams. 99.9% of us are going to be telephone sanitisers if AI gets a grip 🤔

Allmyghosts · 18/07/2023 20:49

It's true though, to us AI has just in the last year or so exploded, in reality though how long has it been online? The technology we have always lags behind the "elites" or the military. This website was a shit show during covid, you couldn't raise any salient points at all without being mobbed.

There are very few spaces online where people can talk frankly about things without being either shadow banned or gish gash gallop gaslighted into hell.

It's all ok if we have universal income.
However if the corporates take all the upsides then we're looking at more of a terminator future.
