That’s it really - the tone of the media coverage re Huw seems much more sympathetic than the coverage Phillip received and discussion generally just seems much more sympathetic of Huw than Phillip, I can’t quite understand why?

You're saying it's homphobia. I'm pointing out there is zero difference to how people perceived it. For every homphobe there is a misogynist. PS and HE could have been in the same position with a female and it would make no difference. People would still be outraged or defend them.

I guess the main difference is phillip had an actual physical relationship with someone who while an adult many would argue he groomed as he knew him when underage wheras huw edwards essentially paid for only fans pictures from an adult but never had a physical relationship with the individual.

To what? There is no difference. There has been the same outrage to all these creepy, powerful men in the news recently.

Huw was popular with his peers (not necessarily juniors, but still); Schofield was not. That’s the difference IMO

The outrage hasn’t been quite the same. The OP and other posters see it as well as I do.

Because HE was just doing what millions of other men probably do. Not great but not illegal.

As for the texts, maybe, naively, HE saw them as a bit of work banter with colleagues. I think a lot of older men need reminding that they are actually older.

Greatly missing HE’s work on TV though, and I really hope he gets better and gets back to the kind of work he does outstandingly.

I think they’re both the same sort of person. Like with most scandals, more will start coming out about Huw’s seedy behavior of grooming young men as his texts show. Probably tip of the iceberg. Let the truth shine on these creeps.

Lots of people are using it to attack The Sun - and for them that means making Huw the victim. I think the other issue is that the young person in the PS story refused to lie to the lawyers about their relationship and the young person had a number of high profile celebs who were still in contact with him. It made it harder to spin that PS was the victim.
The anonymity of the young people and staff affected by Huw, means people with dubious motives have been able to smear them. There's a real lobby pushing that older men can do whatever the hell they like relating to sex and it doesn't matter who is hurt in the process.
