I’m glad we aren’t burning like southern Europe but bloody hell, it’s like Autumn.

It's England. I dont know why people get so surprised.

Look at Very British Problems. It’s all about the weather. The symbol is an umbrella.

whenindoubtgotothelibrary · 14/07/2023 17:54

Yep. Cold, grey and windy again in London, just as it was for most of May and June. Only this time with added rain.

evtheria · 14/07/2023 18:03

Whimberry pies.... mmmm...

Flip's sake, it's a bit of rain, summer is not over, and we live in the UK ~(thank goodness for our temperate climate).

We have enough of this shit weather in the other 9 months of the year. It would be nice if summer wasn't the same. It's depressing.

EvilElsa · 14/07/2023 18:08

I LOVE the hot weather but I'd take this over the 40 degrees of last year. At least my garden is green and growing and not a shrivelled brown mess like last year. My apple trees didn't produce anything last year and are now looking really healthy. We've still plenty of summer to come, it will warm back up and be sunny.

mirages08 · 14/07/2023 18:12

Bloody loving it tbh

Don't do heat

Nice to see green grass and fruit trees 🌳

Smoky1107 · 14/07/2023 18:20

It's been nice. Last Friday I was in a pub outside work in central London enjoying a glass of wine.
Today is the first day of rain I can remember in a while and it's been pleasant at low twenties every day. Intermittent sun and cool in the evenings. I'm enjoying this summer so far!

TribeD · 14/07/2023 18:20

Jumper on, slippers on and considering making toad in the hole for tea tomorrow.

Ddog is refusing to go for a walk because he does not like rain.

At least there probably won't be a hosepipe ban...

There probably will because it might be the wrong kind of rain

Mommasgotabrandnewbag · 14/07/2023 18:28

It's because I booked a weekend in Lego land Windsor. Sorry folks. 😞

It's positively steamy in London. I've just had a cocktail outside the RFH, getting some use out of my new raincoat.

St Swithin's day tomorrow... buckle up, we could be in for another 40 days of it 😟

"St Swithin's Day, if it does rain
Full forty days, it will remain
St Swithin's Day, if it be fair
For forty days, t'will rain no more"

We have rain showing on the forecast for the rest of July!

megletthesecond · 14/07/2023 18:34

It's miserable. All I want is a decent balance, 25° would do, blue sky, bit of rain every so often.

LaurieFairyCake · 14/07/2023 18:35

It's lovely weather

I can go out with just a t shirt on and an umbrella- it's still warm

But I'm not boiling in the night, which is great

JayAlfredPrufrock · 14/07/2023 18:39

Suppose it depends where you are. I’m NW England. I’m currently keeping warm under a Spaniel.

Great thread title.

I love my garden.
I spend a lot of time in my garden.
It looks spent now.

We have a hosepipe ban and a watering can just doesn't hit the spot.. struggle to lug a watering can up steps now.

I long for a long period of beautiful, prolonged, liquid stair-rod rain.

My summer is already over .

DrCoconut · 14/07/2023 18:40

Sick of it too. Cold, wet and miserable. It's rained nearly every day this month so far and I'm hoping it improves before we go away. I don't work my arse off all year to spend my week away shivering under an umbrella while the kids say they are cold and want to go home.

MenoRageisReal · 14/07/2023 18:41

I'm in north Scotland and we've had a pleasant few days with very little rain! It makes a change to be sitting in my sunny garden watching the rain at Wimbledon. Usually it's the other way round.

Although I've just seen the forecast and it's looming our way ...

MenoRageisReal · 14/07/2023 18:42

Our kids broke up a week ago and that usually guarantees rain of biblical proportions so it's been a nice change!

Summermeadowflowers · 14/07/2023 18:43

I am on a thread about summer borns and everyone is saying ‘but one advantage is the lovely weather’ Grin

BeanCounterBabe · 14/07/2023 18:44

I’m just wondering if the hose pipe ban that’s been in place for months is going to be lifted anytime soon.

Ha!
I've got a June born
Midsummer
Now 20 and I can count 6 birthdays in those 20 years it hasn't rained!
7th birthday was memorable...hail and floods!

Catspyjamas17 · 14/07/2023 18:49

I love this weather as we have a hosepipe ban and I don't need to water the garden. A few days of sun them some rain. Brilliant.
