Just that really? Obviously if it's on a non working day or they're a school it's a no.

No

FionaChapman · 13/07/2023 21:06

Youngest ones birthday always falls in half term so I book the day off. Oldest one is at school so I book a half day, so I can be the one to pick them up from school and do something fun after

Issuefroth · 13/07/2023 21:07

Yes and mine too 😁

CoffeeNeeded2019 · 13/07/2023 21:09

Yes, absolutely. Love a birthday!

Hmmthatsgoodchicken · 13/07/2023 21:09

No. This year I just happen to be off for DDS birthday, but she has a Saturday job and she's at work 😂 (we are celebrating with family the following day)

getafringenotbotox · 13/07/2023 21:10

Always

OakleyStreetisnotinChelsea · 13/07/2023 21:16

I usually book dd's off as she's 23rd off Dec so can't really leave celebrating until the weekend after! Didn't bother last year as they were actually in school on her birthday for the first time ever. The others no, the world doesn't stop for birthdays, you celebrate at the weekend or next non working day.

Wildspace · 13/07/2023 21:18

No

CoalCraft · 13/07/2023 21:20

No.

Quornflakegirl · 13/07/2023 21:21

Yes, whether they’re at school or not. I spend the day baking their cake and wrapping their gifts. I have twins so it only one day in the year and I want to make the most of it.

cadburyegg · 13/07/2023 21:22

When mine were nursery age I would sometimes book the day off with them. They are in school now so I never do because their birthdays are always in term time. If they were in holidays I might do as holidays need covering anyway

doozledog · 13/07/2023 21:35

Before he started school i would but i don't now hes at school

Oysterbabe · 13/07/2023 21:38

Yes.
Both of mine have birthdays in the Christmas holidays so are always off school. I will take the day off too and we'll have a day out somewhere.

AndThenWhatHappened · 13/07/2023 21:38

Yes absolutely. My eldest is now at school and I have to prep to squeeze every ounce of the day out for him when he gets home 🥰 but I'm one of those that tortures myself into making the cake myself which is insane with three kids age 5 and under🤷🏼🫣

Beezknees · 13/07/2023 21:40

No, his birthday is always in term time so it's pointless.

illiterato · 13/07/2023 21:40

No but tbh we always do birthdays ( presents, cake, party etc) the weekend before because if it’s a school day there’s often not really time to celebrate properly.

Sanch1 · 13/07/2023 21:40

Youngest is between Christmas and new year so we always take leave them anyway, middle is term time so no as she's at school and eldest is always summer hols so we usually take one of our weeks off then.

Essie274 · 13/07/2023 21:41

I'm a SAHP and my eldest is only 3yo, but so far my partner has always booked DC birthday off work. We always prefer to celebrate on the actual day rather than at a random day at the weekend (also, we have 3 birthdays in 2 weeks in our family so we like each person to have their day). And half birthdays Grin but I'm 100% okay with being called a dick for celebrating half birthdays! Blame my Grandma!

KvotheTheBloodless · 13/07/2023 21:42

Yes! If he's at school I finish early/take a half day so I can spend time with him, go for dinner etc. It'd be a bit crap to have to go to after school club on his birthday!

merderforlife · 13/07/2023 21:42

Yes I do every year whether they are at school or not. If they are at school I go out for lunch as a little me treat for keeping them alive fed and loved for another year!

Onyoupop · 13/07/2023 21:45

I always have but DD starts school in Sept and she will be at school on her birthday as is term time. I wont book it off but I will make sure I've got Flexi to take so I can finish early and pick her up 🙂

KeyWorker · 13/07/2023 21:48

I do, I’m a shift worker so out of the house at 06:30 and not home until 21:00 so DD would be in bed. I always book it off (annual leave day or day off request) to ensure I’m at home for a birthday breakfast and family tea party.

Choccyoclocky · 13/07/2023 21:50

DH works Mon-Fri. He'll only take a birthday off if the DC are off school. He does leave for work later to watch them open presents though. Normally leaves 7:30 but will leave nearer 8 on a birthday.

LacieLane · 13/07/2023 21:51

Nope, never. There is no way that this would be acceptable. The joys of teaching!

Yellowlegobrick · 13/07/2023 21:59

No, i don't have enough holiday to cover school hols as is so can't take extra days in term time. I can swap my hours a little so i can collect from school and have nice tea & cake with them.
