How long does it take you to get ready in the mornings?

Don't have any kids to get ready, just myself. I find that it's taking me around 50 minutes and I'd like to reduce it. I get up, have a quick breakfast, then shower (wash my hair pretty much every day because it's short and gets greasy easily) shave my legs every day, etc.
Then towel dry my hair, don't put any make up on but put SPF on, then checking I've got everything and somehow that always takes me at least 50 minutes. I don't know why.
Interested to hear how long it takes others.

I like an hour but 30 mins of that are breakfast and reading Mumsnet

Smoky1107 · 12/07/2023 07:52

An hour, wash, blow dry and straighten hair every morning. I do shave every day in the shower. Makeup and out or at my desk if a wfh day.
I pack absolutely everything I can the night before and lay out all clothes etc. nothing is left to morning other than the above. I think an hour is pretty good and I manage a cup of tea!!

Elephantinasandstorm · 12/07/2023 07:55

30 min.
That includes 15 checking news in peace, make up, dress etc.
I have showers in the evening and don't eat breakfast.
If I wfh it's 15min 😁

Sceptre86 · 12/07/2023 07:59

It would take me an hour if I had to dry and striaghten my hair and make breakfast too. I tend to wash my hair every other day so can be good to go in 30 minutes if I've gotten my clothes out the night before.

ThisIsACoolUserName · 12/07/2023 08:00

You're including breakfast. So by 'get ready' do you mean 'get up and out the door'?
I set my alarm for 6.15am and leave the house at 7.55am, but I like a leisurely morning - and that includes showering, sitting in bed with a coffee while I do my makeup, drying my hair, walking the dog and having breakfast.
But if I'm pushed, the shower/hair/makeup part can be done in 30 mins.

2chocolateoranges · 12/07/2023 08:00

I can have a shower (including shave legs and wash hair, ) out shower, moisturise, dry hair and straighten it, get dressed within 30Mins.

Siameasy · 12/07/2023 08:04

For school run 10 min
For work I shower the night before and I don’t eat breakfast so it takes me 30min

Alittlenonsensenowandthen · 12/07/2023 08:04

Dress/Shower/make up/hair dry in 30mins, breakfast 10mins but that feels rushed. I always allow an hour

IrritableVowel · 12/07/2023 08:07

I love a lazy morning so I am usually up by 7 watching news with a coffee. Don't need to leave until 8.35. During 7-8 I have a chat to dog, pack up my bag, tidy around the kitchen.
Scroll mindlessly.

After 8am news I head for the shower.

The actual time to get ready to leave the house is about 25 mins. Shower and dressed and out. I bring my breakfast to work. I only wash my hair 2 times a week, in the evening. I will run straighteners through in the morning.

Yellowlegobrick · 12/07/2023 08:08

30 mins

I hang out what i'm wearing ready the night before including tights etc. I have short 5 min shower, wash hair but don't blow dry it. Spf moisturiser, concealer, mascara and blusher. Quick coffee & grab a banana then i go. I pack all bags etc, have glasses etc ready the night before.

Lastqueenofscotland2 · 12/07/2023 08:11

Half an hour from getting up to leaving the house. I was my hair in the evenings so essentially have a rinse in the shower. Brush hair, get dressed, pack my bag - I make my lunch and breakfast the day before and I have breakfast at my desk, make a coffee, check the trains, fuss the dogs (if I’m in the office DP is working from home and vice versa) so I don’t have to sort anything for them, and leave. I have done it in 15 before but that feels rushed!

Funkyslippers · 12/07/2023 08:13

I'd say around 45 mins including shower, drying hair, makeup & breakfast

BashfulClam · 12/07/2023 08:25

40 minutes, up, shower and hair wash, dress, tiny bit of make up so I look human, dry hair (naturally straight so it just needs dried and brushed), grab my lunch from the fridge and off I go. I don’t shave my legs everyday and I don’t have breakfast.

Peacoffee · 12/07/2023 08:30

I think you’re going to struggle to get ready in less time without cutting the morning shave and hair wash. Many people do that in the evening. It would take me forever if I was washing my hair in the morning.

It takes me about 30/40 mins but that includes sitting down for a coffee. I try to pick an outfit the night before but it doesn’t always happen. To get ready in the morning I get washed, do skincare, then have a coffee, do makeup and get dressed. Then faff about with toddler for an extra 20 mins or that happens in the middle of getting ready.
I don’t see a need to get ready any quicker, I sort of just fill the time I have.
Plenty of people saying it takes them 20 mins but I would feel like shit if I was out of the house and in my way to work 20 mins after waking up.

Bellaboo01 · 12/07/2023 08:46

1 Hour and 15 mins.

Shower as soon as i get out of bed. Hair wash every other day.

Do lunches x3/ water bottles etc and breakfast for the kids.

Make-up and watch TV with my daughter as she eats her breakfast.

Then we all leave the house at the same time every morning.

One daughter needs; 50 minutes (showers etc the night before) but, she is so slow and likes to watch an episode of TV whilst eating breakfast.

One daughter needs; 15 minutes and rolls out of bed just before we leave.

lastminutewednesday · 12/07/2023 10:55

1 hour

Purplecatshopaholic · 12/07/2023 11:01

An hour (if I don’t wash my hair - longer if I do). Don’t like to rush, lol.

Luxell934 · 12/07/2023 11:01

I shower in the evenings so I don’t have to do that in the morning.

I get up at 6am. Make myself a coffee and some breakfast then I’ll sit and read or watch tv for a-little bit while drinking my coffee.

Then I’ll go upstairs wash my face, brush my teeth, deodorant, perfume, put some makeup on, concealer, foundation, powder, bronzer and mascara. I’ll just brush my hair, I rarely can be bothered to curl or do anything special for work.

Get dressed and then head out the door for 7am. Bag is packed the night before with drinks, lunch, etc

RebelR · 12/07/2023 11:03

20 mins to shower, hair, make up dress. A bit longer if I need to shave legs.

It can take much longer when I have longer though.

SlidingHoors · 12/07/2023 11:07

I need about an hour in the morning to get ready for work. I don’t like rushing, though.

Shower (wash hair every week day) & do my lotions and prions
Breakfast
Brush teeth
Get dressed
Blow dry hair
Do make-up

The night before I make my packed lunch, check everything I need is in my bag and lay out my clothes (right down to my undies Grin).

beeskipa · 12/07/2023 11:08

If I need to, 15 minutes - 2 minute shower, brush teeth, makeup takes 5 minutes, throw some clothes on. I'm blessed with hair that doesn't need much messing with.

If I'm not in a rush, an hour, but only because I get distracted!

Judystilldreamsofhorses · 12/07/2023 11:08

Alarm at 7.15. Depending on who’s up first I feed the cat and let her out, make a cup of tea - or straight in the shower. Wash/dry/straighten hair, makeup, clothes always picked out the night before. Breakfast, check news/instagram/TikTok, teeth, get cat in, leave about 8.15. I could be faster but am rubbish in the morning and hate rushing!

JaninaDuszejko · 12/07/2023 11:24

It takes me ages.

I get up, open the curtains in all the rooms except bedrooms, plump the cushions in the sitting room, put on the dishwasher, plug in the phones to charge, put the recycling in the appropriate boxes, go to the loo, brush my teeth, get dressed in my 'going to the pool' outfit, prepare my swimming stuff, put a load of washing on, make my breakfast, make my packed lunch, eat breakfast and tidy up, wake up DH and the DDs, drive to pool, swim, shower, moisturise, get dressed in my work clothes, go back home, pick up the DDs (usually involves calming down DD1 who will inevitably have left something to the last minute), take them to school, drive to work, park, walk a mile across site to my office, sit down at a desk and think 'Bloody hell I'm knackered already and I've not even started yet'.

mindutopia · 12/07/2023 11:25

If I really wanted to, I could be out the door in 15 minutes. The longest bit is making coffee. When I go to the office (early, before kids get up), I usually wake up 30 minutes before I need to walk out the door to the train. This allows time for having a coffee before I leave, packing up breakfast/lunch for the day, generally sorting things out before leaving, etc. I don't shower in the morning or do hair and if I was making breakfast/lunch, it would largely be done the night before and ready to go.

Capitulatingpanda · 12/07/2023 11:28

On work days where I don't get kids ready about 10min from wake up to out the door. Shower night before. 10min to brush teeth, get dressed and pee. I have to leave to catch my bus just after 5am, I'm not wasting time in the morning.
