DS’s stinks, he chews it. Only 7 months and not sure what’s best to wash it with?!

I chuck DD's in the washing machine with a normal load. He dries very quickly pegged on the line!

Kingsparkle · 10/07/2023 18:25

I put it in a washing bag or pillowcase tied up and put it on a gentle wash.

AiryFairy1 · 10/07/2023 18:28

We had a toddler vom into the entire box of soft toys and I put them all into the washing machine, gentle cool wash, and they all came out beautifully, even Bashful Cow 🥹
I might be a bit hormonal as I sort of miss those toddler days!

AiryFairy1 · 10/07/2023 18:29

Non-bio washing detergent (is all we used at the time)

Gumpshing · 10/07/2023 18:29

You gotta boil him up

RandomMess · 10/07/2023 18:30

Get a spare and start alternating, will be a lifeline if you ever lose one of them.

indiopx · 10/07/2023 18:36

Oh I didn’t think they were machine washable!! Thanks

I took my eldests in the shower or bath and hand washed it

MotherOfClogs · 10/07/2023 18:40

Definitely machine washable

Floatwithfred · 10/07/2023 18:46

I've done this with the octopus. Into a pillow case on a gentle wash. It's summer so dry outside. Still well loved but clean at least!

Marmite27 · 10/07/2023 18:47

Jellycats wash beautifully. It’s a bloody good job, because ours have been vomited on several times over the years.

Kingsparkle · 10/07/2023 18:25

I put it in a washing bag or pillowcase tied up and put it on a gentle wash.

We do this. It can also go in the dryer on a cool cycle (thank goodness, as she sleeps with it!)

coronaplease · 10/07/2023 18:50

Oh pleased to know mine isn't the only one 😅 my eldest loved his jelly cats but just snuggled them and still does now.. my youngest sucks on his jelly cats rather than a dummy, was cute at first...
I shove them in the wash with a normal load on a 30 or 40 and put them in tumble dryer if it's on. No problems 😊

Peacoffee · 10/07/2023 18:55

So many things say not to machine wash but got just need to stick it in the machine or it would permanently be grubby with kids!

Therandomtrekker · 10/07/2023 19:24

Generally wash in sink and rinse several times( I don’t want to risk the machine for the favourites)

Starsnspikes · 10/07/2023 19:26

Washing machine on a delicate cycle then out in the sun to dry (did it on a glorious day!). Teddy came out in one piece smelling beautiful!

I probably wouldn't have risked it except my daughter had a leaky nappy on a night when I'd put her to bed without a sleep sack due to the heat. Then she woke up and crawled it all over her cot. I didn't know whether Ted had copped it but I wasn't taking the risk!

OsirisservesAnubis · 10/07/2023 19:31

In the washing machine with a normal load, on a normal cycle and with normal detergent!

Yellowlegobrick · 10/07/2023 19:33

My kids ones have been machine washed many times. Put inside pillow case, fabric conditioner essential and tumble dry for fluffiness.

CushionBlanket · 10/07/2023 19:34

Washing machine without fabric conditioner

Oysterbabe · 10/07/2023 19:37

I just throw it in the washing machine on hand-wash cycle.

SprinkleRainbow · 10/07/2023 19:49

I ruined our first jellycat putting it in the washing machine! Make the fluffiness go all crunchy and stiff! But it was brand new.
The second one my boy does the same chews and sucked the ears to death and when he was around 8/9 months I accidently scooped it up with a load of washing and put it in the washing machine. But that one came out absolutely fine!
The 3rd one was brand new and also went through the washing machine and came out fine! He just hates the 3rd one, doesn't like it even though its the same!
They aren't supposed to be machine washable but when you hand wash there's no way it's really that clean!

Lovehearts82 · 10/07/2023 19:49

I put my sons jelly cat Maximilian Monkey in the washing machine, he's had it since he was a baby , his tail has been chewed and chewed he only has about 3 inches left on it 😄 he's 9 now and still sleeps with it and takes it everywhere ❤️

ladyvivienne · 10/07/2023 19:53

Washing machine and tumble dryer.

PurpleBananaSmoothie · 10/07/2023 19:53

Usually hand wash cycle with normal non-bio detergent. I use the liquid detergent on the bits that are sucked and manually aggravate the dirt.

They, surprisingly, can also survive a boil wash after they’re hit with a vomiting bug. Just for when you have that joyful experience. I probably wouldn’t put them on a boil wash all the time but he’s survived a few boil washes now.

Badgersonthedoorstep · 10/07/2023 20:01

They are technically not machine washable but that's ridiculous when they say suitable from birth.
I put ours in the machine with a couple of small towels and a tiny bit of non bio power. 30 min 30° cycle. Fine wire pet comb run through the fur while damp then 10 mins in tumble dryer with the towels.

Also suggest anyone giving their child a jellycat also buys a second as a backup for those unexpected sickness bugs.
