To get rid of Amazon prime membership

Has anyone else got rid? I think it was costing me more actually. I suppose I will just have to wait for delivery as opposed to getting it the next day. I don't know why I feel so sad about it!! 😂😂

Once I realised that I'd used Prime a grand total of 8 times in 12 months I cancelled.

It's gone massively down hill. Countless times I've ordered specific item over other same / similar items because it says Prime delivery before 1pm next day.

In the morning I check and the delivery time has moved back a day or two. How it's legal to advertise like that and not deliver on promise is baffling.

I thought i was imagining it lol

I get very reliable next day delivery. And I use it a lot. So it's a winner for me.

Same, never not had it delivered when they say it will be

excab · 05/07/2023 23:19

If you buy a lot on Amazon it is worth it because you don't get charged delivery.

Aposterhasnoname · 05/07/2023 23:23

Honestly I really want to justify paying for prime, but I can’t. For music we have a family unlimited subscription, which is no cheaper with prime, so no savings there. Tv, we found most things we wanted to watch were at extra cost, the odd free series we can binge watch in our two free months a year (one each). We can get free delivery on orders over £25 anyway. Am I actually missing anything because I really can’t see what the benefits are.

DdraigGoch · 05/07/2023 23:27

I sacked them off when they messed up the music subscription. Now use Tidal for music.

Lacucuracha · 05/07/2023 23:59

I don’t really see the point of Prime. You get free delivery anyway with £20 shopping and if I buy something that costs less than that, I can pick it up for free from the nearby Amazon Fresh or the corner shop.

Lucimaya · 07/07/2023 00:25

I wouldn't pay for it. I've got it free for 6 months on taking out a new mobile contract. Shocked about seeing something you might want to watch on Prime then it's rent or buy, or an extra premium every time. Only real benefit for us is free delivery without having to spend £25 (gone up from £20 I see). Not worth it.

EBearhug · 07/07/2023 00:30

Not till after Good Omens 2, which is out at the end of the month.

Bibbitybobbitty · 07/07/2023 00:33

I use it mainly for the kindle books & saves me a fortume on buying them. Shopping wise it's handy for birthdays etc but I just buy what's needed anyway & have mainly had next day delivery even when not especially required.

MaxwellCat · 07/07/2023 00:34

I get same day delivery where I live but I’m cancelling because they have taken my money for an item I have returned due to faulty and won’t refund me 🤷‍♀️ been waiting over a month and they just fob me off so I will be cancelling

Sometimesgood · 07/07/2023 00:43

Oh, I really like it still! I've noticed that the delay happens when they used a courier who delays it, rather than using Amazon delivery. I particularly like the free returns because it grinds to send things back as they are not quite right but have to pay delivery for the privilege. Sometimes it's cheaper just to keep the unsuitable item.

But I do also check eBay as well, as occasionally their prices are significantly cheaper, though it often works the other way round too.

I don't use music except through Alexa, and find the rental is still just as cheap as Disney plus, Apple or iTunes etc. I’ve stopped Netflix but if I didn't have Amazon I'd go back probably.

To be honest Amazon prime has saved by bacon with last minute gifts and the likes, so would be hard to think about being without, especially as the high street is fast diminishing.

Hankunamatata · 07/07/2023 01:02

I'm ditching mine. Had it for years. When it finishes for the year next month then that's me done. Finished watching the Marvelous Mrs Mazel on the streaming so I'm happy

NewNameNigel · 07/07/2023 01:11

I deleted mine over a year ago. The odd time I do try and buy from amazon they always offer me a free trial which I accept and then cancel immediately so I don't get charged after the free period is over.

garfieldeatscake · 07/07/2023 01:14

I like it, generally next day delivery is next day. Sometimes stuff is cheaper off eBay, but it depends how quickly I need something. Office supplies are my biggest purchase, find prices comparable with my nearest supermarket, caveat though we live in the back of beyond, so if I want a bargain basement type shop like Poundland / home bargains / B & M I have to drive 50 mins to nearest city, and by the time I've parked (parking is so expensive) add in the fuel it's cheaper to get on Amazon, don't have to deal with people standing in doorways chatting either! The city was quietly dying before covid, but covid and the subsequent hike in parking fees, have pretty much done the shops in, so again Amazon offers me items I can no longer get 'locally'.
Dc like quite a lot of the kids programmes freely available, and the free films are changed quite regularly.
I also like my monthly free book.
It was definitely better value, but for the moment it's still good value for us, I think if I lived closer to a large town or city, I wouldn't bother.

Callmecordelia · 07/07/2023 01:23

I've given up with it. The music changes made me cross, and that's what we used most.

I'm buying less on impulse and I managed to watch Picard before it ran out, but that's the only thing I really wanted to watch in the last year anyway.

I haven't missed it.

Redglitter · 07/07/2023 01:30

I definitely get value for money. I use it a lot. I ordered something after midnight today- its coming this afternoon. Cant get much better than that. I've had no problems with next day delivery, pretty much everything I order is next day & comes on time

My nieces use my account too both to watch Prime & for delivery. One item ordered this week was £6 delivery & estimated delivery 5 to 7 days. Alternatively on Prime it was free & arrived next day

I won't be getting rid of it anytime soon 😊

Highandlows · 07/07/2023 06:01

Lifesaver for me. Reliable and it would be one of the last things to go.

Ponderingwindow · 07/07/2023 06:04

Sometimes Amazon comes to my house multiple times in a single day. For medical reasons they are a lifeline for me. I can’t imagine giving up Prime.

LouLou198 · 07/07/2023 06:08

I would miss it. A lot of stuff I order does come the next day, sometimes before 1pm. I have a lot of household stuff on subscribe and save, shampoo, washing up liquid, cleaning stuff etc. it's great as we never run out and works out cheaper than the supermarket.

BastetsWhiskers · 07/07/2023 06:14

I sign up for a month when I want to order things, feast on deliveries and films, then cancel again until I would like it next.

Next day delivery is always really good.

CirreltheSquirrel · 07/07/2023 06:19

I don't pay for it, but they offer me a free 30 day trial fairly regularly so I take those then cancel when it runs out. I don't normally do anything last minute enough that I can't wait a few days for delivery (I'm the sort of person who puts stuff in a basket and thinks about it for a couple of days anyway)

C1N1C · 07/07/2023 06:47

I use the mo th free trial on black Friday only.

You don’t need Prime for Subscribe & Save.

cinnamonfrenchtoast · 07/07/2023 06:55

No issues here - everything arrives on time and you can track orders live on the app too.

We're really rural so can't just pop to the shops for stuff, so I order loads on Amazon and have never had any issues.
