As in, let them selves in with a key and was home alone for half and hour- hour and a half. At what age would you feel that was appropriate?

Year 6. A short 2 minute walk from school then into house for no more than a hour maybe once a week/ fortnight. We've ring doorbell and blinks so can track when they've got in.

Year 6s are allowed to walk home, so 11. DS has a key.

Summer term of year 6, in preparation for secondary.

10.5. But after months of working up to it and with me a phone call away(and she had to ring from house phone to confirm arrival), neighbours who wfh aware and in response to serious bullying issues(dd was victim) that principle refused to deal with so said she had to leave after school club. So that was the only solution.

9 is too young. Just not worth the risk for me.

Lockdown when I had to work he'd be home alone all day sometimes. He was 13 though. He'd been at home alome for short periods before that since year 7 as he woukd arrive home from school before I got home from work.

Ds was home alone all day five days a week for six weeks of lockdown, also 13. I then sent him into school as an essential worker child as the isolation was too much. If I could do it over I'd have sent him back straight after Easter and this was a child that had been latchkeyed after school for four years
