50th-Glastonbury, USA road trip or Hawaii?

I’m 45 but planning now šŸ˜…

Which would you choose out of the three?
Our daughter will be with us and will be 10/11 by then.

Glastonbury: Never been before, always wanted to go, have been to many other festivals, adore music. We’d combine this with a trip to Europe somewhere-one of the lakes in Italy maybe or Iceland.

USA-California, L.A fly drive-never been before, only New York. Would love to have adventures, road tripping and visit where they filmed E.T šŸ¤·šŸ»ā€ā™€ļøšŸ˜‚

Hawaii: Dh surfs, we’ve always wanted to go-extended trip-3 plus weeks, total chill in a quieter area, swimming and surfing.

I have zero money for any of this šŸ˜‚but plan on saving…which would you choose out of these three?

And what would be your ultimate 50th celebration?

@Ponoka7 šŸ˜”I’m sorry, that’s sad. I had seen 55 as relatively youngish, my Dd will only be 15 when I’m that age, that’s depressing

For me either road trip or Hawaii. In my youth I did a road trip down Route 66 from LA all the way through Texas and Oklahoma to the East Coast. It was amazing!! The Joshua tree national monument, the painted desert in Arizona are all out of this world. But also knackering. Hawaii is stunning, it’s just like all the films and postcards you’ve seen and 3 weeks gives you all the chance to do some island hopping. Hawaii also lends itself more to a little bit of luxury. And to be honest , safer. Both will be fabulous and memorable.

100% Hawaii!!!!

If you can combine a CA road trip with Hawaii - I'd do that. I wouldn't bother with staying too long in LA though unless you're planning on doing Disneyland (which you should if you have a 10/11 year old!). Or fly in to SF, go to Yosemite, then drive down to LA on route 1 - and then fly to Hawaii from LA. (We were in SF quite recently and loved it!).

Although it depends on the time of year - July and August in CA can be brutally hot and there are always wildfires somewhere. Hawaii though is good weather year-round I think. October / November in CA is very pleasant though.

I cannot think of anything worse than Glastonbury as a 50-something. My 50th birthday trip was cancelled due to covid, I made up for it later with a trip to Hawaii. So that is my pick.

Hawaii sounds the best of your options.
I want to go Greek island hopping for mine. Also an organised swimming holiday in St Kits and Nevis (that bit would be just me).

No problem. I really love my 'home State' and also love the movies.

When I was younger my friends and I used to 'scout out' filming locations for fav movies. If you're at all into 'Old Hollywood' then a visit to the Hollywood Forever cemetery is cool. Rudolph Valentino, Mickey Rooney, two of The Ramones, the list goes on.

Another angle if Hawaii and/or a big Calif road trip doesn't work out for you. So Cal has some great beaches and lots of vacation rental houses. I spent my childhood summers at a beach house in Newport Beach. It's not the 'vibe' of Hawaii in any way, but it's still fun and there is plenty to do. Just use a reputable agent.
