Me and my cousin are having a girls night in! She recently went to a tribute acts concert and she is adamant the guitarist was giving her the eye, she was sitting front row and took this pic. What do you think?

At a performance of Othello at the Bristol Old Vic, I was in the second row, and Gerald Harper, playing Iago, was definitely giving me the eye.

confirmations strong as proofs of holy writ

He won’t be able to see any of the audience because of the stage lights. But if he can he’s probably following advice that performers are sometimes given which is to pick a few randoms in the audience and perform to them

Absolutely this. When DH was doing standup as a student he usually fixed on someone in the front row and once sat in their lap. Worked very well.

You really need to stop drinking.

All singers make eye contact with various people in various sections of the crowd.

I’m not even being snarky. Really, op needs help. I love a good drink as much as the next person, but it does not interfere with my life in any way beyond maybe spending a little more money than I would if I didn’t drink, and the odd fuzzy headed Sunday morning. Op is behaving the way I’d expect 18 year old freshers to behave at uni, not grown adults with responsibilities. It doesn’t even seem like they are enjoying themselves - I know that when I’m having a few drinks; posting on mumsnet is the last thing on my mind. The fact that all their drunken posts descend into arguments and insults within a few posts show how volatile they are. And the fact that they drink like this around their kids is quite frankly, scary.
As I say, I myself like a drink. I can sink a bottle of wine like nobodies business. I even drink around my kids. But for me, drinking is an enjoyable experience, I don’t behave in a disordered way. And actually, I’ve explored my own relationship with alcohol and cut back because it was heading towards unhealthy.

Well, I mean obviously that was a contributing factor. But that very post was about an argument you had with your husband because he thought you were drinking too much around your kids. Generally, when it gets to the point that those who love you being it up, it means you have gone too far.
How often do you get messy drunk? It seems pretty regular?

Innocents4321 · 26/06/2023 10:54

It is easier to focus on someone. He probably wasn’t but who cares anyway? Nothing happened. It’s a fun story for her to tell and nobody got hurt.

Johannamyers · 26/06/2023 10:54

my job is very stressful and I think that’s why I do!

Drinking to manage stress isn’t a good idea. You should speak to your GP for some proper coping strategies/medication.
