To think filing nails on public transport is grim?

I can understand makeup. I can't understand why anyone would think it ok to file their nails on a bus or train. The noise. The nail dust going everywhere. Just grim. aibu?

But as I say, the social contract. I don’t want someone opposite me doing a manicure either! I wouldn’t worry about what happens to the seat once they leave (that’s overthinking to be fair) and you were wearing headphones which is well within the social contract provided they are not those tinny ones!
