To enjoy making my husband’s sandwiches?

nispalovk · 06/06/2023 17:31

I actually enjoy making DH’s packed lunch for work. I don’t know why really. Maybe it’s knowing that he’s going to enjoy his lunch. Or that he’s got something to remind him of me. It makes me feel good. Is it a maternal instinct?

Cool. Wanna make mine? I like chicken. Cheers.

monsteramunch · 06/06/2023 17:35

Don't think it's maternal especially, it's just normal to enjoy doing something nice for someone you love, because you know it'll make them happy, I think?

WhisperingAutistic · 06/06/2023 17:36

No

To enjoy making my husband’s sandwiches?
Fairislefandango · 06/06/2023 17:38

I don't think it's necessarily any different from someone enjoying making dinner for their family because they like food and cooking. It depends what it is that you enjoy about it. Personally I wouldn't want to have a maternal instinct towards my husband!

Comedycook · 06/06/2023 17:38

I understand...I get a sense of satisfaction when I make food for my family.

saveforthat · 06/06/2023 17:39

It's just like cooking a nice meal for someone (as long as they will enjoy it and are appreciative). Food can be a way to show love so not just maternal, maybe nurturing though?

PinkiOcelot · 06/06/2023 17:39

I hate making lunches. Only make it for me though.

usernameV2 · 06/06/2023 17:40

I enjoy cooking for my husband, and he also enjoys cooking for me. It's nice to be nice?

GneissGuysFinishLast · 06/06/2023 17:41

Is your husband also your child? Because no, that isn’t maternal instinct.

Its nice to do something nice for someone every now and then.

ThePorchSwingCrowd · 06/06/2023 17:41

A maternal instinct towards your husband? 🤮

ScottBakula · 06/06/2023 17:41

A maternal instinct towards your husband? 🤮

I was going to say this. I don't think maternal instinct is the phrase you're looking for op.

Noicant · 06/06/2023 17:43

I hate cooking full stop these days but I don’t think theres anything wrong with enjoying making a loved one a meal. I make DD heart sandwiches sometimes because it makes her happy.

steff13 · 06/06/2023 17:43

It's probably a love language thing. Acts is service or whatever. If you enjoy doing it, I'm not sure why it matters?

Thebigblueballoon · 06/06/2023 17:43

I’ll take a beef, rocket and horseradish one, please. Decent bread. Ta.

GrumpyPanda · 06/06/2023 17:44

And you are posting this because....?

MaxwellCat · 06/06/2023 17:46

I must not be maternal then as I absolutely hate making my kids packed lunches

Nevermind31 · 06/06/2023 17:46

You do you hun

yousexybugger · 06/06/2023 17:49

Not maternal, just a way to show love through a practical or nurturing means. See 'acts of service' if you're into love languages.

Nothing motherly about Etta James singing 'all I wanna do is bake your bread... just to make sure you're well fed'.

adriftinadenofvipers · 06/06/2023 17:49

I hate making sandwiches for anyone. Myself included.

Icanbringmyselfflowers · 06/06/2023 17:50

Um do you feel maternal to him? Confused

StrawberryWater · 06/06/2023 17:51

The idea of a maternal instinct towards your spouse gives me major ick. It also infantilises the other person so double ick.

You do you but I’m out thanks.

StrawberryWater · 06/06/2023 17:52

Does he get Bitty as well as his sarnies?
