...to be extremely angered by SS & Police?

Children 'living' in severe neglect - filthy, uninhabitable home (full of flies and fleas), no food in dirty fridge, nowhere to bathe, brush teeth etc. Danger hazards throughout house and parents both on weed and cocaine.

DCs removed by police I'm guessing on an EPO, but parents now "let off", to be told the DCs will be returned soon and no police charges?!

If you seen the home you would understand my frustration here but surely SS cannot just dismiss this? If so, I have lost all faith in the system ConfusedHmmSad

The state is a terrible, awful parent. There are often no good choices in these scenarios, only a pick of the least bad ones.

It sounds from your posts that the children have been placed temporarily with other family (your sister perhaps?) while social services try and sort out the parents and make a decision about the long term.

Don't rely on information from the parents.

Its likely they have agreed for the children to be placed voluntarily with family on the basis that social services will ask X/Y/Z of the parents in a particular timescale and if they complete what is asked the children may well be returned.

But also be aware that if they aren't showing insight that they are the problem then that is going to be a huge red flag for social services.

As other posters have said it sounds like the children have been signed voluntarily into care and in the long term the children may be returned to parents on a plan so there will be ongoing social care involvement for the time being. Police protection orders only last 72 hours and social services usually ask parents to work with them and sign a voluntary agreement instead of applying for a care order which may not be agreed by the judge. I would not take what the parents say as the truth

Their family, not mine ?! Hmm

Yes... I was speculating that for you and your sister to have so much detail about what was going on that perhaps the children were with her / members of your extended family temporarily?

Or are you two just bystanders?

If it was me I'd be off sitting in a corner rocking as I literally couldn't live without mine Sad

I'm someone very close but not family, no

Yes, apparently this was the case, the signing over

What happened to Finley Boden was murder not neglect.

Even if this family face criminal charges they wouldn’t necessarily be remanded in custody.

Even if the parents have agreed fir their children to be placed in care for now, it doesn’t mean that SS won’t apply for a care order if they suddenly withdraw that consent and they still have serious concerns.

i think it is common for the parents to play down what is happening.
