Dog poo etiquette

doggiedoodoo · 02/06/2023 16:14

Changed my name for this !!
Scenario is
Walking your dog , for some reason he stops to perch at the end of someone's front drive and have a poo.
I pick it up with my poo bags( triple bagged ) but unfortunately some of it is sloppy
In this scenario would you
A) scoop up best you can and leave the yellow remnant that's sunk into the pathway

b) pick it up best you can and cover it with a dusting of mud and leaves / twigs / grass whatever you can get nearby

C) scoop what you can and leg it

D) knock at the house , apologise too much and see what they suggest to the sloppy stain you've left behind

A. I might have tried to rub some of it away with some leaves or twigs or something but A sounds sufficient .
don’t overthink it !

takealettermsjones · 02/06/2023 16:20

I wouldn't let the dog walk or poo on someone's drive in the first place

SwedishDeathClearance · 02/06/2023 16:20

Take a packet of baby wipes with you - wipe the pavement- not just at the end of drive but whenever there is sloppy poo

WilkinsonM · 02/06/2023 16:22

C)!

@takealettermsjones i would never 'let' mine poo on someone's drive but occasionally he has started before I can stop him. Nobody chooses to let their dog poo on someone's drive.

Ditto.
Why didn’t you move him in, op? Rude.

70sTomboy · 02/06/2023 16:23

I pick up a handful of the dust debris from the gutter or along a wall and use it to bind/ mop up anything and pick it up that way.

Agree. If my dog even starts sniffing as if she might poo on someone's front garden/ drive she gets pulled away.

Helpful (not)🤔

DustyLee123 · 02/06/2023 16:24

I’d have picked up what I could, then go straight home and return with a bottle of water to wash it away.

Ylvamoon · 02/06/2023 16:28

Teach your dog to poop on command- it's easier than carrying full 💩 bags around!

Hannahsbananas · 02/06/2023 16:28

Helpful (not)🤔

Why? It’s a vile thing to do.

WoofWoofBeachLife · 02/06/2023 16:30

If its near your house I would go and get a kettle of boiling water and wash it away. If not, I'd just pick it up as best I could and wipe as much as I could with the poo bags triple over my hand. The dog can't help it if he needs a poo right at that point. Especially if it's sloppy the wee soul might have a dodgy belly. Why are you asking?

TheFlis12345 · 02/06/2023 16:30

I would never ever let him poop on someone else’s drive (in fact he’s not allowed to walk on other people’s property at all) but I always have tissues and a water bottle on me so on the occasion he did a little squitty poop on the pavement outside someone’s front gate, I picked up what I could with a bag, rubbed the rest with tissues then poured water on the area.

Why is that not helpful? OP presumably asking how to address the situation in future. Avoiding it is a way of addressing it 🤷🏻‍♀️

DominoRules · 02/06/2023 16:32

I would do A and maybe try and get a bit more off using a leaf or twig?? I always have a small pack of wipes and a bottle of water in my walking bag so can use that after a very mortifying incident in the garden centre when mine was a tiny puppy!!

Anaemiafog · 02/06/2023 16:33

I take water and wipes in case of this very scenario.

CatsOnTheChair · 02/06/2023 16:37

This happened to us (we were the drive owners). We can home to find one adult with the dog, and another adult walking back up the road with a watering can. I thanked them - so must have been surprised at their dedication, but it was the right thing to do

I take a bottle of water an old washing up liquid bottle. Job done.

wowie69 · 02/06/2023 16:42

If I was close to home I'd pop back with some water.

It happened to me when I was miles from home (not on the drive but near to the entrance, so I scooped up some sand/gravel from the gutter and covered it up)

zerosugarcola · 02/06/2023 16:44

my sister takes a bottle of water when she goes out with her dog i dont have a dog becoz of the poo picking up i know it is the law and we must do it if we own a dog i just can't id be sick warm dog poo no thanks .

DogDream · 02/06/2023 16:46

I’d change their diet so their poo was easy to pick up. Raw makes really inoffensive poos. But was it a one off bad stomach?

When you say triple bagged do you mean it took three bags to clear up one poo? How big is your dog!

Spidey66 · 02/06/2023 16:50

I pick up as much as I can, use tissues to wipe up as much residue, if I'm near home or a shop get hold of some water. Fortunately my dog prefers going on grass which is easier as I can grab the grass/mud around it.

kitsuneghost · 02/06/2023 16:51

I think you should go back and clean it with a spray bottle of fairy liquid with a bit of bleach and hope the owner doesn't need to go out meantime

Wisterical · 02/06/2023 16:56

Any of these:
A) Don't let your dog walk on someone else's drive.
B) Don't let them shit on someone else's drive.
C) Carry a bottle of water and/or wipes with you do you don't leave your dog's diarrhea on someone else's drive.
D) Go home immediately and return with stuff to clean up the diarrhea your dog left on someone else's drive.

doggiedoodoo · 02/06/2023 16:58

Thanks for the responses so far !
When I was walking him
It was on the kerb to the road which is just across from the start of the long pathway to their house , I couldn't of pulled him away as it would of sort of splashed a trail !
It was his first walk after being neutered yesterday gentle walk , im guessing that's what made his tummy dodgy !
I don't make a habit of ever letting him Even sniff anyone's garden paths or bushes as a rule , im not a slob but this sort of happened super fast.
I do scrape up as much as I could , covered the sort of remains with mud and some
Leaves but I also knocked to apologise because I was worried they might walk to the car with kids or even them
And walk over it or wonder why someone had put mud over the kerb
They were really understanding but it got me thinking 🤔
