What's the one single thing a government could do to make your life better?

Mine?

Rejoin the EU.

It the single most powerful lever any government could employ.

It makes the country significantly better off at a stroke and improves all kinds of situations, growth, investment, labour shortages, farming, fishing...

Label UPFs clearly and tax them more. Use the additional taxes to subsidise organic British food

Ban glysophate and neonicotinoids.

Pay farmers to rewild part of their land to reinstate bee/wildlife corridors.

Legalise euthanasia

Ban public EV chargers under 100kwh

Single thing that would improve my life?

Get rid of the Tory Government.

They have wrecked every single aspect of the UK, from pot hole covered roads to the collapse in the NHS, social care and education, they are now pissing up 10s of billions in extra borrowing costs as market confidence in the UK to pay its debts falls.

Increase the following in line with inflation each year:

  • minimum wage
  • public sector wages
  • benefits

I don't know about it improving my quality of life as such, but if it could be arranged to hang the rotting corpse of Boris fucking Johnson one side of the gates of the Houses of Parliament and Nigel bloody Farage the other side, that would certainly bring a smile to my face. They could sell postcards to pay for all the repairs that are currently decades if not centuries overdue.

Increase statutory maternity pay or make it compulsory for greedy business owners to pay better during leave. It’s a pathetic amount to try and live off.
