A bit late to this but totally get it!
I've just stopped buying altogether, even a pair of mid rise from Mango nearly came up to my boobs. I am so sick of it. Soon they might as well come up to our necks, why not?
Most hip length tops, unless baggy, don't sit flush against a chunky super high waist. It is almost impossible to achieve a sleek silhouette (if you want one). I think most high rise now are designed to go with either crop tops or stuff tucked in, which I don't like at all.
I am very slim, but with long legs/short waist. A pair of pull on cords from Toast that I bought last year came up to my nipples. There was so much flapping fabric in the front rise it looked like i was wearing a nappy, yet the fit was otherwise perfect.
There's always a few snippy replies on these kinds of threads, no idea why. High rise has just been growing higher for almost ten years. Why the idea of those of us who don't suit them wishing to buy mid rise instead gets them so riled up is mystifying. Who cares?
I used to have some great jeans by Joules, they were a true mid rise and sat perfectly just below my belly button. They were not remotely similar to the super low rise of the noughties, which many on this thread can't seem to grasp. There are next to no mid rise in the stores, no matter how many people keep twittering on about 'variety'.
You might find some lower rise cargo's at Urban Outfitters, and a few low rise flares at H&M, but that's it. And they're shite.
I want a well made wool or linen trouser with a mid rise - seemingly impossible.
I have no choice but to wear high rise if I want to wear shorts right now either. Today I wore my denim ones with a linen tee and whenever the tee blew against me in the breeze you could see the outline of a chunky button fastening right below my boobs. It makes me feel like a toddler.
