To let the tyres down on a car that parks in Mother/Baby space with no kids?

Not that I have ever done it, but I really get annoyed when I have to try and find a parking space that will allow me to actually open the car door enough to get my baby out without wholloping the car door into the car next door when some moron who has no kids parks in a designated space meant for us Mums!!!!
Today I spent an age going round and round Tesco's trying to find a space wide enough ARGHHHHHHHHHH!

I've just found my new favourite thread on MN! Thanks scruffy.

fletchaaarr · 19/02/2008 22:49

OK - scruffy is a good start for a name. What else should we know about you? What do you like, what do you do (work or not) what do you read, did I miss a comma (are you a pedant?)....

etc

etc

KacyB · 19/02/2008 22:49

Hilarious!!! Though I have to admit... When my SDs first came into my life, they were 1 and 3YO, so we had car seats and booster seats for them... I used to keep the car seat in my car to get away with parking in the M&T spaces

Would also strongly recommend a 'dog lovers / dog haters' post.... I LOVE my dog and practically knee cap any dog owner I see neglecting to pick up dog crap... I could get VERY emotional about that!!!!

Oh dear... Welcome Scruffy!!

Monkeybird · 19/02/2008 22:49

Welcome, Scruffy

I'm not so new any more but not an old hand either and since I had a hard induction to the ways of MN, here's my top tips:

  1. Don't correct Cod's spelling. Please.
  2. Breathe deeply before clicking the Active Conversations link...
  3. Read ALL previous posts if you don't wanna be flamed. Or just get a beer, popcorn and wade in there.
  4. Have some excuse for the DH and kids for why you're snorting beer and popcorn all over the computer
  5. Please look at the MN classics page. But make sure you have some oxygen available and a considerable amount of free time...

PS - Infra dig is not a mn thing but a terribly poncy latin thing

scruffy1995 · 19/02/2008 22:50

Oooo thank you!! To think after 53 posts this thread really has bugger all to do with it's title!!! Hurrah!!!

fletchaaarr · 19/02/2008 22:53

names - for instance Aitch named me NormaStanleyFletcher because of my connection to prisons (I have been in three but not as a compulsory thing, just visiting)

I am under my shortened name at the moment

fletchaaarr · 19/02/2008 22:55

on M&T parking - my local asda have big signs up that they will fine you £60 if you park there without a child there who needs a child seat or booster seat (I still seeth at the ppl with 9 year olds, but hey)

moljam · 19/02/2008 22:57

fletchaaarr - i didnt know you were 1 person.iyswim?

SparklyDYSONGothKat · 19/02/2008 22:58

I love it, a P&T thread that is funny!! welcome scruffy!! You seem to be the type that will fit nicely into the viper nest!!

scruffy1995 · 19/02/2008 23:00

Ok fletchaaar - I'm a little confused about the pedant bit? Is it a typo?
I'm a Mum of 2 with a DH. I'm currently on mat leave and read ummm not alot really! I discovered this place ages ago - but have only just started posting (as you can tell).

Emprexia · 19/02/2008 23:01

I would just like to add to the rant.

i took my mom shopping to sainsburys.. the supermarket shares a carpark with a bit retail place so P&T spaces are limited.. but necessary because this place is so busy and dangerous.. even for adults to navigate on foot.

Some elderly $%&# in a porsche convertable nicked the last P&T space right from under my nose as i was about to park in it so he could RUN to the goddamn cashpoint.

GRRRRRR

Emprexia · 19/02/2008 23:02

that would be biG retail park.. not bit sigh

Someone hug me, tis cold and i'm frozed.

fletchaaarr · 19/02/2008 23:03

OK - most embarassing moment?, fave TV program, anything?

UnquietDad · 19/02/2008 23:04

For a bit of light relief, would anyone like to debate faith schools?

(0nly joking)

scruffyy · 19/02/2008 23:06

Have gotten rid of my numbers - but had to change the name slightly so have paid homage to Fletchaaar!
Hope you didn't mind?

scruffyy · 19/02/2008 23:07

Ummm should I? Would it be wise? (I'm thinking not!)

fletchaaarr · 19/02/2008 23:09

Honoured by the name

fletchaaarr · 19/02/2008 23:10

and I get teh horrible feeling that you are going to be sooooooooo much more interesting and popular than me

scruffyy · 19/02/2008 23:11

Would a conversation about the deleting of posts be acceptable? (have just browsed and found a rather lively one!!!!)

scruffyy · 19/02/2008 23:14

"Would a conversation about the deleting of posts be acceptable? (have just browsed and found a rather lively one!!!!)"
Appologies I meant I found a thread discussing such a subject (not very well put on my part I know!!!)

Cocobear · 19/02/2008 23:15

Oooo scruffy start a thread on social services. I love those!

scruffyy · 19/02/2008 23:21

Well thank you to all of you who have given me such a warm welcome. It's been quite fun and I'm now much more confident how to start a virtual riot!!! I'm off to bedybize now and look forward to catching up with you all soon (possibly in the next couple of hours if DH starts snoring!!!).
