To feel depressed when the weather gets warmer

Just that really. I feel so low and crap about myself in the summer especially. I hate going out when it's warm / hot outside.
I hate summer clothes and sandals. I feel bloated and fat as soon as it starts getting warm. I feel really exposed and not able to focus on anything positive. Does anybody else experience this? If so, is there anything that helps?

I'm ok till they hit 30 or so and then I struggle as I'm far too heavy(doing something about it) summer clothes don't suit me , I don't much like salad and I just feel a bit of a mess

You guys are my people!!! 🤗

I'm so relieved to find there are others like me, and suspect quite a lot of people feel the same. I'm fine with my body shape, but just prefer winter clothes and food. I don't sleep well in the heat and hate the bright light and sticky heat of summer. Can't stand the light evenings with people milling around outside, driving with music blaring from open top cars and the smell of BBQs.
I am middle aged but have always felt this way! Roll on my August birthday as autumn will then be in sight.

Yes I really dislike hot weather and the light evenings. I mush prefer it when it gets dark early. I think I've always been like that.
I also don't like having to justify this feeling and people thinking I'm a misery - which I'm not at all!

I'm with you on this one.
I hate the unspoken (mostly) pressure to be outside in the sunshine 'doing something'. The implication that if you're not 'making the most of it' you're miserable/lazy or whatever.
I don't like being outside. I like sitting in a nice shady house, thank you very much.

I tend to feel similar. I am extremely pale so summer just means being sticky and covered in sunscreen. I also wear massive straw hat, and a lot of people comment on this, like it's some sort of fashion statement, but it's just to ensure that I don't burn to a crisp.

I prefer the cooler months because I can dress accordingly to what I like the look of, rather than always thinking of avoiding getting sunburn.

I am so pleased that on here people have deceived counting down to solstice. I do the same. Once we get there I kind of feel the bubble burst and feel more relaxed as I know the days are getting shorter.

I am the same,I hate the brightness and being hot. I like a spring day with a good breeze or a lovely frosty winters day.

Me too!

the80sweregreat · 19/05/2023 10:50

I don't like icy pavements , but I do prefer a colder day to a really hot one and rain over snow. I also like covering up in winter coats and boots. I think I tend to hide away a lot behind them , summer makes me feel exposed
Hoping it's not a hot one this year.

CabbageKale · 19/05/2023 11:07

I hate the hot weather. I stress about what to wear to work. I don’t like to show my swollen ankles so avoid dresses or anything cropped. End up sweltering in full length trousers and ballet pumps or converse. Give me black tights and a jumper anyway!

OldTinHat · 19/05/2023 11:40

I hear you!! Hate the summer - the heat, the clothes, the light evenings and mornings...

Bring on autumn, clocks going back, candles and snuggly jumpers and blankets!

YouNeverSeeTheRealMe · 19/05/2023 11:42

Me too. I'm the fattest I've ever been, have got a huge Moon face (all thanks to long-term steroids) and I feel revolting. I'm dreading the warm weather.

DappledThings · 19/05/2023 11:43

I was wide awake at 5.30 this morning. Bright daylight flooding in. Ugh.

gogohmm · 19/05/2023 11:46

You just need to find a summer style that suits you. Yes its uncomfortable here over 30 degrees because our buildings aren't suited to those temperatures but those days are rare. It's 18 outside, not hot at all, but ideal for trousers and a blouse for instance.
