To ask what you do on Sundays?

I am really starting to dislike them.
I'm single with no kids and not much in the way of family. The few friends I have are all busy with family stuff.
Aibu to ask what you do on Sundays? They are always sort of tainted by the thought of Mondays at work too....

Long run with the club or friends, usually coffee or lunch afterwards and then chores, food shop etc.

dementedpixie · 14/05/2023 18:14

I go to zumba. Iron a few shirts and then chill out. Going out for dinner tonight for the first time in ages

MolkosTeenageAngst · 14/05/2023 18:15

I’m in the same situation as you. Single with no kids. All of my friends coupled up, most with young children, no close family (in either sense of the word).

Honestly, the majority of my Sundays are spent binge watching TV or binge reading. I try and find a series or book I can immerse myself in for the entire day so I avoid too much thinking time and can live a more interesting life through the characters. Very occasionally I see friends but most of the time they are busy with partners and families. I had plans to see a friend today but they cancelled last minute with a bullshit excuse which is fairly standard, I think a few of my friends feel obliged to see me on paper and will suggest things at start of week but then don’t want to waste family time when it comes down to it so pull out last minute. I would say I probably only have plans (on either day) one weekend in a month, the others are all pretty lonely and I just have to try and get through them. The only thing I like about weekends really is the chance to catch up on sleep.

Sewingdufus · 14/05/2023 18:16

For me it’s usually a day based at home. A lie in. Washing, a week’s worth usually. Cooking, usually a roast or a casserole. More washing. Some time for hobbies and pets. Getting organised for the week ahead.

Internationalwomendayheadquarters · 14/05/2023 18:18

Today has been spent cleaning (large house with 3 kids) huge amount of laundry and cleaning to do every Sunday. Getting fed up of it tbh

vivaespanaole · 14/05/2023 18:23

Lie in. Walking, pottering, 4 hours gardening. 2 loads of washing. Now cooking a lovely tea.

ADHDGURL · 14/05/2023 18:26

My kids are grown up so my weekend's are just for me and I love the freedom..
Sat is usually lounge around day, with takeaway dinner.
Sun is housework or if not needed I go gym and have a sauna/steam. Alternatively a run with breakfast at the end, bike ride ..walk.
I also meal prep for the week, have a hectic job so I like to know dinner in week is sorted, Sun evenings are with a book/bath TV and early night. I rarely socialise at weekend's as most of my friends are with their younger children.

Have you tried a running/hobby club..or meet up is good for events,
I don't know if it helps but I see the weekend as MY time, the mon-fri has constant demands on me so I make the weekend tranquil do what I want.

I don't know how much use my reply on the post will be, I am I guess trying to say view the weekend as a gift for you rather than time to be filled.. a few years ago I did volunteer for Contact the Elderly, they have a meet of Elderly people once a month and require drivers/hosts for a tea. It's incredibly fulfilling and fun, onlyn1 Sunday in the month. .

DH and I go to church, then out to brunch with friends from church, then relax.

SunshineLollipopsAndRainbows · 14/05/2023 18:36

I work alternate Sundays. If I lived in a city still I would go to galleries, museums etc - really miss London for that, although I don’t think I would really like to live there now.
Sunday is DH’s only day off so if I’m not working, we sometimes go to a beach or for a walk & picnic.

AmberGer · 14/05/2023 18:37

I work all weekend but have 5 days off after 😄

TheChosenTwo · 14/05/2023 18:37

All sorts really.
I have 3 dc but the older 2 work and the youngest is 11. I’m not averse to meeting friends on a weekend day but I’m not precious about blocking off weekends as exclusive family time, I’d be bored stiff if that was my life to be honest.
Today I haven’t met any friends but went out with 2 of the dc this morning, took the youngest for a kick about in the park this afternoon and when we got back dh took him out for a few hours to play pool. So I just did a few jobs around the house.
I do like my weekends to be pretty chilled out, I don’t have to have it all mapped out months in advance like some people I know, I’d be stressed if I didn’t have a free weekend for 11 weeks!

AndIKnewYouMeantIt · 14/05/2023 18:37

I'm married with a kid and I still love going to the cinema by myself on a Sunday with a bag of sweets.

Otherwise, supermarket, laundry, boring admin, watch some football.

caffelatte100 · 14/05/2023 18:39

I drink copious amounts of coffee, 30 or 40 mins yoga (online), lovely breakfast, a walk (sometimes to bakery to get bread), do some jobs such as ironing/admin, go on Mumsnet, cooking, research holidays or buy gifts online, drink wine and have a nice dinner with the family.
I am often bored but reading this, it doesn't sound too bad really.

LubaLuca · 14/05/2023 18:39

Today I:

Slept until 1000
Did some laundry
Went out for plants, a hosepipe and some groceries
Cut the grass and weeded a border
Going swimming in half an hour

Siriusmuggle · 14/05/2023 18:40

Long run or a race. Long bath. Often visit my parents, loaf around and do housework

CrackersCheeseAndWinePlease · 14/05/2023 18:43

Today my day went like this
Up at 8.30
DH assembled some garden furniture
DH put a towel rail up
Took youngest DD to the cinema
After cinema DD went to play next door with her friend
Had a quickie 🤭
Done the washing
Now I'm cooking a lasagne with garlic bread, then bath DD then watch BGT with DH and wine

Doggymummar · 14/05/2023 18:43

Slept till 10 online grocery order, reD my book, gardening. Roast on, shower. Fake tan hair and foot pack which need washing off at 10pm. Mumsnet and movie. Run dishwasher

Sweetladyjane · 14/05/2023 19:08

Church, gardening followed by lying in the hammock reading. I tend to keep my Sundays quite chilled - the kids are with their dad on a Sunday so I use the time to relax before starting work on Monday.

ChequeredPastel · 14/05/2023 19:11

I’m so envious of your weekends without kids. All I’ve done is survive the day 🤣

CorneliaStreetAgain · 14/05/2023 19:18

OP - would you fancy a weekend job in a pub? Might meet people that way.

PinkiOcelot · 14/05/2023 19:23

Normally spend the day tidying and cleaning and laundry. Today I’ve done nothing because I’m full of cold and feeling ill.

Serenity45 · 14/05/2023 19:23

Me and DH no kids. Lie in until 9ish lazy breakfast with a podcast on. Drive out somewhere nice for a long walk with the dog (sometimes meet my family with their dog). If with family, drop dogs off at home to keep each other company while we nip out for a pub meal. If on our own come home, shower, loungewear on and takeaway or easy meal in front of the TV.

We both WFH and try to do chores little and often during the week, but will likely still be laundry/ washing up to do.
