18 months old, was clowning around me, tripped and caught himself on the corner of the door frame. Right in the middle of the forehead at the most ‘protruding‘ point.Cried but for like 30 seconds, minute max but a bruised lump has come up, almost cartoon like. Does he need an and e? Husband going bananas at me. On hold to 111 now

They always do it right before bed don’t they 😅

He’s asleep now and no call from 111 clinician. Before bed he was bouncing on the bed and pushing me around, playing gee up horsey and asking for stories. So i think he’s ok

Sounds fine to me! Your husband needs to calm down about this stuff. I once knew a dad who didn’t let his kids run in case they fell over. Completely OTT

summerfinn · 13/05/2023 20:55

If I brought my toddler to hospital every time he fell or got a bump on his head I'd live their. Unless you child is vomiting or drowsy or out of sorts after the initial cry and shock. They are sturdier than you think.

Same it wouldn't occur to me. I'd just watch and wait and see.

Me neither. Unless there were other concerning signs like vomiting or drowsiness.

Why do children have this amazing ability to find radiator valves with their heads? Every child I know has done this

I've a indent/scar at the end of my eyebrow from a radiator valve 😅

111 will tell you what to do, accidents happen and your husband's being an arse, let's hope your ds never injures himself when playing with your husband

snowbellsxox · 13/05/2023 22:41

I went to minor injuries previously if there's one near you

Namechangetimes100 · 13/05/2023 22:44

I was promised an urgent call back from a clinician, ive not had one but they triaged him as the monitor from home sort of thing which he would fit into with the links kindly provided by PPs

do I need to wake him up? The nhs website said let rest if tired

My DD did this and had a huge egg. Looking back, she was obviously fine but I panicked and sought help immediately. She cried from shock but calmed quickly and was otherwise well.

DH had a bump to his head recently and it was very immediately obvious that he was seriously injured as he just didn't recover, got worse, was confused, started vomiting etc. Concussion was glaringly symptomatic.

CatsOnTheChair · 14/05/2023 07:32

To late for now, but incase anyone else reads it needing information: if it's a normal nap/sleep time, you don't need to actually wake them, just gentley move an arm or the covers, and check they snuggle back down again - ie check they respond because they are conscious but that doesn't mean waking them and checking they know what day it is!

RedRosette2023 · 14/05/2023 07:55

I’m confident he’s fine this morning OP but wanted to check in? If I were down a&e everytime one of mine had a bumped head they’d start charging me rent.

Namechangetimes100 · 14/05/2023 11:27

He’s fine, but restless in the night but that could be the 18 month dreaded sleep regression. He’s fine in himself, eating drinking and playing fine. Bump has gone done but a lovely bruise left, just in time for picture day at nursery… reckon they can photoshop it out haha?
