The things I buy regularly are leeks, red onions, brown onions, cauliflower, baby tomatoes, mushrooms, avocados. I don’t really buy enough fruit but I am most likely to buy berries of any type.

We always have lettuce, tomatoes, cucumber, onions, carrots, celery, bananas, and apples in the house. They never go to waste. Any other fruits and vegetables are either in the week's meal plan or were requested by DS for snacks (grapes/blueberries/strawberries/raspberries/melon) and happened to be a reasonable price.

Same as you plus Cucumber
Sometimes a white cabbage and make my own coleslaw coz I'm so mumsnet like that.

We always have white and/or red cabbage in the fridge. My partner is of Greek heritage and with almost every meal - hot or cold - we usually have lakhano salata. This is finely shredded raw cabbage and grated carrot, dressed with very good olive oil and a squeeze of fresh lemon juice.

We absolutely love it.

You could grow your own. The flavour is incomparable.

A couple of pots on a balcony is all it takes. There is something very relaxing about watering tomatoes when you get in from work. 🙂

Used to have a small greenhouse at a previous house and I grew some then. The difference is incredible.

Haven't got much space now but would be nice to get a little pot or two on the go

What do people do with spinach?

Creamed spinach, with new potatoes and cod poached in milk 🤤🤤🤤

SpongeBob2022 · 12/05/2023 16:47

I eat frozen peas most days....I add them to pretty much every meal in some way. I love them and hate chopping.

I quite often shove some spinach in a pan after dishing up and wilt it just for me (no one else likes it).

Other than that it's bananas, dried apricots and I quite like frozen cherries. DS has berries and grapes.

Veg is carrots, broccoli and onions and salad stuff is cucumber, tomatoes and sometimes peppers.

Awumminnscotland · 12/05/2023 18:19

What to do with spinach....
I use it mostly as a salad leaf, in salads with other greens and pulses

As salad part of a sandwich

Add it to most cassetole, stew or sauce dishes...just throw it I'm at the end and it'll wilt in
