@BallandBoe which one did you get? I’ve been wanting one for ages!

This one.

It was £109. Forgot I reinstated Prime, so didn't have to pay postage 🤣

I’m not a fan to be honest! I had to move everything as we don’t have a clutter free home. It also bashed into the dog food bowl, knocked it over and then spread the food all over the place 🫣
It gets stuck on random things and just takes up floor space sitting in its docking station.
it’s back in its box in the garage 🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣
until I pop it on eBay!

TheLovleyChebbyMcGee · 03/05/2023 15:34

To the people who say they have to move too much clutter, look into blocking those areas. I can set no go zones on my app and the hoover stays away from them, handy for cable areas etc.

I find it actually helps us to stay tidier as I go round before sending it out to clean and do a once over for things he may get stuck on!

Yes, us too - it forces us to pick stuff up etc rather than just vacuum around it. I usually spend 10-15 minutes tidying up before I turn Herbie on. It's quite a useful way to spend my time and it would take me a lot longer to do a proper tidy up and vacuum if I was using a regular vacuum so it's a win all round.

I’ve bought 3 but they always go wrong or need a new part. By the time I’d been on YouTube to figure out the latest problem or sent them back to god knows where for repair I could have hoovered the whole house 1000 times.
I gave up on them and life is much easier.

Weird. Ours have lasted brilliantly and even after DH dropped a mug on ours, it kept going for another 8 months or so!

I do think it's worth buying one of the better known and well regarded brands though. Their customer service is also excellent so problems tend to get dealt with quickly.

CarlaH · 03/05/2023 16:27

I found they couldn't do the corners being round. Have they got better.

Triffid1 · 03/05/2023 16:53

We mostly have wooden floors so the corners are less of an issue as the little brush thing sweeps stuff into a spot it can then be sucked up.

The one room with a carpet definitely benefits from the odd "proper" vacuum with a nozzle to really get into the corners and the edges.

For me, that's okay - I didn't buy my robot with the intention of replacing the regular vacuum completely. But it does make the day to day relentless hoovering a bit less onerous and means I only have to get the big one out occasionally. These days, I have a cleaner who comes fortnightly so I never get the big vacuum out at all personally!

NameChange647 · 03/05/2023 18:13

I just got a robot vacuum yesterday and I'm in love. I didn't expect it to be as good as it is and would love to try a Eufy or Roomba as they must be even better. It was £110 on Amazon then went back up to £240 so I'm glad I got it when I did. It's going around just now as I type this. I have cats and children and was fed up hoovering twice a day. It won't take away from giving it a proper hoover but its keeping my floors clean in between and I'm hoping you get away with doing it maybe every second or third day. As another poster said it takes 5 minutes of my time to hoover. Longer if I do upstairs and the staircase. Not a massive amount of time but maybe because I hoover once or twice every day and keep on top of it it doesn't take so long 🤷🏻‍♀️. I just hate doing it and after working during the day and running the kids to their activities I can't be bothered some nights so I'm thinking this is going to make a massive difference to my life. Sad I know Grin

Mine was absolutely life changing (not in the least bit melodramatic!) but it didn't cost that much.

I have a separate living, dining room and kitchen all coming off of a long thin hall. Would it be able to work out doing one room, going back to the hall and then into another?

My Neato does the living room dining room kitchen hallway and downstairs bedroom every morning in one go. It makes its way from room to room going out into the hall before going to the next room. It rarely does it in the same order twice though so sometimes it goes to the kitchen first and other times it does the bedroom. I can see on the app on my phone where it has cleaned

My Neato is D shaped so manages corners fine.

OfDragonsDeep · 03/05/2023 23:58

@SavBlancTonight thanks, I’m still not sure whether to go for it or not. I do like the idea of less hoovering though, so even if it helped a bit it may be worth it. I like the look of the ones with the built in mop too as my rooms are mostly hard floors.

JMSA · 04/05/2023 03:32

Normally I love a shortcut, but I sold on my Eufy after using it once! So much less hassle just to whip the hoover out, and without the need to clean brushes and empty compartments after every go.

suburbophobe · 04/05/2023 03:36

Mine got stuck everywhere in corners, bookcases etc. PITA.

Much prefer dancing around with my hoover....
