Mine was £100 and mops the floor as well as vacuuming it. I love it!

What brand is yours?

Lcb123 · 03/05/2023 11:51

Seems a massive scam. It takes me 5 mins to hoover the whole house

What do you live in, a shed?

WombatBombat · 03/05/2023 12:04

I have a £200 Eufy one and it’s fantastic in a busy house with a toddler and two cats.

I stick it on in an evening or when I’m WFH. It’s made such a difference.

BallandBoe · 03/05/2023 12:09

Do these robots clean carpets well? And will they go from room to room, even if they go from tiles to carpet to lino?

CornedBeef451 · 03/05/2023 12:21

I have a Eufy which was £250 ish and I love it!

hiredandsqueak · 03/05/2023 12:44

I paid about that for my Neato, it's great, set it off every morning whilst I walk the dog. Makes me feel very productive when I come home to the whole downstairs freshly vacuumed. I have pretty large rooms and no clutter so it's just a case of moving one lamp and closing the stairgate (because it sometimes gets stuck on it) before I leave the house. I would have to replace it straight away if it ever stopped working.

Panda89 · 03/05/2023 12:50

I have a Eufy, I think it was around £170 a few years ago and it's great for our open plan, hard floored downstairs. It does get stuck if anything stringy is left out though i.e. cat toys.

However, we used to have it scheduled to run at 6am every day .... One day it ran over cat sick 🤢 and spread it round floor. Cleaning the wheels/brushes after that was GRIM.
Now I have it scheduled for 9 so I have time to clear up any overnight cat vom first 😂

I like mine and it works effectively (Eufy - nowhere near £400 - I think it was about £120) but with several caveats.

If I use it in my kitchen/dining room, I need to move all the chairs and breakfast bar stools out of the way, lift the (floor-length) curtains out of the way, make sure there are no trailing cables (floor lamp, phone chargers etc) - basically give it a completely clear floor space so that it doesn't get stuck or tangled in anything.

Bedroom - I need to lift the bedside tables onto the bed, unplug everything so no trailing cables, curtains lifted out of the way, bedside rug moved etc. Again, I'd normally just use the nozzle on the regular vacuum cleaner to vacuum around cables, tables etc and move them around a bit as I'm doing it.

Often by the time I've done all this prep, I feel I could have had a quick spin round the room with the regular vacuum cleaner for the same effort or less. I must say it isn't quite the miracle worker I thought it might be.

This had a very positive effect for me though.
DH is a clutter lover and I'm not.
He also wasn't very good at moving said clutter but just hoovered around it🤔
Luckily he's exceptionally lazy and so would rather move his stuff than hoover.
It nabbed his computer charging cable once and since then the house has been clutter free.
It's absolute bliss, takes seconds to move stuff and I can go off and do something else.
House is so clean and so tidy now!

Do you in a bedsit?

CC4712 · 03/05/2023 13:24

OP- you must give us an update on how it goes. Where did you buy it from?

Hugasauras · 03/05/2023 13:29

We have a basis Eufy upstairs and a fancier mopping Deebot downstairs. They are amazing! The Deebot (Nessie!) is out at least once every day, often twice. I stick her on before kids' bedtime and come down to spotless mopped floors for the evening after the chaos of dinner!

Hugasauras · 03/05/2023 13:31

And yes they are one of the things I would instantly replace if they broke. Our robot lawnmower is a champ too!

Yeah and it's not clean!

How do you hoover a house with more than one room in 5 minutes? We have a normal sized house and it takes me upwards of 45 minutes.

OP, we have a Eufy (same model as yours I think) and it is one of our best purchases. I send it round each floor daily and then once a week I do the stairs and sofas with a handheld vacuum.

It is surprisingly life changing!

WhoHidTheCoffee · 03/05/2023 13:39

Don’t get a Lefant. The app is shonky and basically I can’t use ours so DH has to do all the programming. It was supposed to make life easier…

OfDragonsDeep · 03/05/2023 13:48

I have a separate living, dining room and kitchen all coming off of a long thin hall. Would it be able to work out doing one room, going back to the hall and then into another?

Laiste · 03/05/2023 13:50

What happens if it runs into cat sick or wet hairball though? Does it just trundle on through it and try and brush it up? 😵

You can be damn sure a particular one of my cats would take great pleasure in throwing up right in it's pathway.

I've been reviewing various models and most newer ones can detect animal poo now, to prevent it being strewn all over the floor 😬

CC4712 · 03/05/2023 13:57

No idea about cat vomit though?

Theoretically, yes. However, the battery life is what can sometimes cause a problem in this sort of situation simply because it needs to go back and forth and if you have carpets etc, it can make the battery last less. My new Eufy, combined with my lack of carpets I can largely leave it to go in and out of rooms. But my old one, which had less battery life and suction power I always tended to do room by room or room plus landing etc.

I still do that from a convenience/time perspective - eg put it on in the lounge while I'm making breakfast/tidying up then close the lounge door while I'm working and leave it to do the rest of downstairs.

Having said all that - I think some of the newer smarter ones can be set to do specific rooms. So you could tell it to vacuum all of them and leave them to it. I'm not sure how that works - mine has that functionality but I've never bothered to set it up.

DRS1970 · 03/05/2023 14:38

I've heard they suck.... 😁

This is why I always set mine up and do it manually rather than on a timer! It doesn't always work - over Christmas a bit of pate must have landed on the floor somewhere. Took me HOURS to clean that up!

BallandBoe · 03/05/2023 14:56

I'm now £125 down. Thanks, OP, I blame you!
