It’s just a soft toy?

OP posts:
Motorcycleemptyness · 30/04/2023 13:23

They are quite cute though. I hate clutter so wouldn’t have them in my home but I enjoy looking at the more obscure ones, like plants and sandwiches and random vegetables.

LuckOfTheDrawer · 30/04/2023 13:24

They're nicer than other soft toys though.

BernadetteRostankowskiWolowitz · 30/04/2023 13:26

They feel nicer than most soft toys

They are more creative in their designs than most soft toys

The range of sizes, prices etc suits most budgets

They wash well in the machine

7Worfs · 30/04/2023 13:26

They are better designed and softer.

That said, all soft toys are dust traps.

sheusesmagazines · 30/04/2023 13:28

I think they're very cute and unique, especially the foods and teapots, etc. But I refuse to pay £30 for a cuddly brocolli!

HinCogNeetOh · 30/04/2023 13:31

I don't think it is an obsession.
They are nice soft toys, that's all.

You should have been here for the Sophie Giraffe years.

Mutabiliss · 30/04/2023 13:33

They're just nicer than many other soft toys, softer and a lot of different designs so something for everyone. My son has a few that were gifts, it's an easy present for a baby.

Plus many places stock them, they're in every garden centre!

Newnamenewname109870 · 30/04/2023 13:33

They are so so soft and so cuddly

Needmorelego · 30/04/2023 13:34

They are so adorable 😍
But expensive 😕

dietcokelime · 30/04/2023 13:39

It's the smiley faces I think. They're perfect - cute without being creepy at all, they make me feel terrible for not buying them.

TheSnowyOwl · 30/04/2023 13:39

One of my children has had one since birth and it’s her ultimate comfort toy.

FlounderingFruitcake · 30/04/2023 13:39

No idea. Got loads of the bloody things as baby gifts and the kids were never interested in them. They all eventually went to the tip.

RudsyFarmer · 30/04/2023 13:40

I don’t have an obsession with them but can appreciate the designs and make quality.

That's quite wasteful. You could have sold them or donated them.

ThankYouMama · 30/04/2023 13:41

The uniqueness 🙂 - My 6 year old is a fan of the Jellycat plants.

Doyoumind · 30/04/2023 13:41

YABU. They're so soft and cute. Not obsessed with them but I have bought them as gifts.

PipinwasAuntieMabelsdog · 30/04/2023 13:44

Every child we have given them to has loved them. They are soft and malleable for tiny hands

jellycat · 30/04/2023 13:44

I might be biased 😁 but they are pretty special 😻

7Worfs · 30/04/2023 13:45

This.
Not to mention some rare discontinued ones sell for thousands. I hope you didn’t throw away £5,000 worth of jellycats, PP!

Needmorelego · 30/04/2023 13:46

@FlounderingFruitcake if your kids weren't interested in them they must have been in pretty good condition.
You could have sold them or donated them.
You seriously took perfectly good toys to the tip?

Sometherusername · 30/04/2023 13:46

They are better quality than a lot of toys, and are washable.

Having said that, my daughter has jelly cats costing £20+, and teddies costing 50p from the charity shop and to her it makes no difference 🤷

jellycat · 30/04/2023 13:52

How can you not love me?

To wonder what the obsession is with jelly cats
Appleblum · 30/04/2023 13:53

They are so much cuter and softer than other soft toys.

FlounderingFruitcake · 30/04/2023 13:54

Yes they went to the tip. One was even Bonpoint so probably quite expensive but I was still delighted to have the dust gathers out of the house. I donate all old baby equipment, clothes and toys of the wipe clean variety so am not normally wasteful but I had genuinely no idea people would want second hand soft toys. I find the idea a bit grim tbh, yes you can wash them, but unless it’s a replacement for a precious lost one, who is that desperate for a squishy carrot or bunny rabbit that you’ll buy one that’s been drooled over by someone else’s kid?! I just don’t get it.

IAmTheWalrus85 · 30/04/2023 13:55

My children both have them and we found they were softer, more durable and washed better than other soft toys.
