Just this ^
Am I the only one that despairs every morning at the thought of what to make for tea that night.

Yea but now we get gusto so it’s not as bad altho it is expensive and im not convinced it’s good value but I hate meal planning

SouthCountryGirl · 27/04/2023 21:09

Yes. I live alone so I only have to decide for myself. But that also means having no one to ask what they might like!

Justme10 · 27/04/2023 21:09

100% agree! We are going away for 4 days in a couple of weeks and I am most excited about not having to plan and cook meals Grin

BakedTattie · 27/04/2023 21:11

Agreed. It’s definitely the worst.

Mum2jenny · 27/04/2023 21:12

If I lived on my own it would be easy to decide how to feed myself, but I live with a man who eats very differently from me. So meal planning is a nightmare

Yes I hate it! 😬

AlltheFs · 27/04/2023 21:14

I delegated it to DH some years ago. He does 100% of the food shopping and cooking. Strange man enjoys it!

I can’t ever divorce him as I’d literally starve.

amidsummernightsdream · 27/04/2023 21:14

yanbu

Motheranddaughter · 27/04/2023 21:14

Have passed this responsibility on to my DH

Kanaloa · 27/04/2023 21:15

I used to know a woman who, in her house, had a menu like it was school dinners. Every Monday was sausage and mash day, every Tuesday was spag Bol day and so on. Some days when I just cannot be arsed I think about her. I wouldn’t do it because I think it would feel so restrictive, but it must save you so so much time.

herewegoroundthebastardbush · 27/04/2023 21:15

Meal plan the week - one big hit of pain then no having to think about it all week long!

MuffinToSeeHere · 27/04/2023 21:16

If I lived alone I'd find it so much easier, I'm easy to please and cook to eat not because I enjoy it.

My DH however is an adventurous cook and enjoys trying new dishes and our child takes after him. 90% of the time DH sorts it out and I don't have to think too much but on the nights I cook I bloody hate dedicating time to thinking of what to make. I need a more adulty adult to tell me what to eat.

GertrudePerkinsPaperyThing · 27/04/2023 21:17

It’s not the worst. But it is a pain in the neck!

Fairislefandango · 27/04/2023 21:19

Why decide every day? Make a week's meal plan, then you only have to think about it once a week!

UnwantedOpinionBelow · 27/04/2023 21:20

That's why I love Gousto.

Oysterbabe · 27/04/2023 21:20

I hate it so much.
Whenever I ask for input no one apparently minds what we have. Then come dinner time, they make this face 😒

Snowpaw · 27/04/2023 21:21

I feel you. I have reduced my life down to two ingredient meals at the moment to aid the decision making - some type of protein with some type of veg. Its made things much simpler! We had pork and roasted cauliflower tonight. Sausages with courgettes the night before. Salmon with roasted peppers.

Bread on the side or a jacket potato added for those that want more substance.

Blamunge · 27/04/2023 21:33

DC sometimes go to visit grandparents after school and eat with them. So on those evenings I just don’t cook and I tell DH that his dinner is his problem. He will call into the supermarket and cook for himself if I’m not eating, or he’ll get a takeaway, but if I want some food he’ll expect me to shop and cook for both of us. The only way I can get out of shopping and cooking is not to eat.

raspberriesblueberries · 27/04/2023 21:36

Teen DD has discovered cooking and menu planning. I can deal with any amount of eye rolls, back chat and demands for money as well as slightly odd food combos if it means someone else decides what we eat and cooks it. I am conscious it is just a phase but this is one I want to last!

ThePoshUns · 27/04/2023 21:36

Absolutely! My kids are in their 20s and still at home. I'm done with it all

Multipleexclamationmarks · 27/04/2023 21:36

Yes hate it but I really really hate doing the packed lunches every bloody day more.

TeenLifeMum · 27/04/2023 21:40

I don’t mind dinner but I can cook meals with minimal thought but I absolutely hate making packed lunches - 3 different versions every bloody week day!

Sleepinatent · 27/04/2023 21:41

I almost started a thread about this a few hours ago. Fridge is almost empty save a few crinkly mushrooms and some aged apples. The shopping is not the problem the THINKING is the problem. Feels like I did all the thinking two days ago..... reality is it was clearly a week 🥴

Just say you’re having beans on toast or a jacket spud!
