AIBU to wear a red dress with blue shoes?

Okay SO trivial I know but I am torn! I really want these shoes (or the dupes which are a lot cheaper) but most of my formal dresses are bright, lipstick red. I feel like the clash would look fine so long as I keep other accessories minimal but I'm a bit concerned I'll look a complete plonker. Help!

Unless it’s for the coronation I do think it’s a clash

purpleme12 · 26/04/2023 18:16

If it was me I totally would do it.

Sometimes a bit of mismatch is good!

Snap! One of my favourite outfits is a blue dress with red shoes

Craftycorvid · 26/04/2023 18:53

Personally, I think it’s OK to wear what on earth you like as long as it makes you happy. With that much of a colour difference between shoes and dress, I’d probably get a bag or accessories that picked up the colour of the shoes to give some follow through if it bothered me.

RaininginDarling · 26/04/2023 19:00

I love a clash of colour myself BUT I do think the tones need to match ie pastel with pastel and bold with bold.

I think as nice as these shoes are, they seem too wishy washy a colour to go with a bright red. IMO.

bananaboats · 26/04/2023 19:01

I don't think it matches no.

Forestfire12345 · 26/04/2023 19:02

No... that's a pastel with a bold ... just dont .

Agreed.

sparepantsandtoothbrush · 26/04/2023 19:06

If they were a royal blue or a bolder blue then yes but I don't think the pastel blue will go with red

Buttonsandlace · 26/04/2023 19:17

I don't think it will go. But I spend most of my life in muck boots and somehow there is always some sort of vegetation in my hair. So I am not the best judge. Buy them anyway because you love them.

You’re good to go, op.

Not my cup of tea. Especially the shape of the dress!

I personally wouldn't mix the colours OP. But then I like things to match!

Kaaplumff · 26/04/2023 19:30

I'm going to go against the grain here and say you'll look lovely and colourful! There are much worse things you could pair together.

mamabear715 · 26/04/2023 19:43

You'll look brilliant.
As far as I'm aware, there are no laws against this sort of thing!
Wear what makes you happy, & you'll shine!

Skybluepinky · 26/04/2023 19:54

Try bright blue not wishy washy blue.

Equalitea · 27/04/2023 05:31

I think it depends on the style of dress tbh. I don’t want to say an outright no when I think it could be a possibly.

wrinkleintime · 27/04/2023 05:36

Of course you can.

Blue and red isn't a massive clash anyway, they can complement each other. I think it could look great.

Kingoftheroad · 27/04/2023 05:37

You go for it girl. Sing your own song

Forgottenmypasswordagain · 27/04/2023 05:51

I think the answer to this dilemma is you buy a new dress or outfit that suits them.

Everything goes with black. Pastel blue does not go with bright red.

SquishyGloopyBum · 27/04/2023 06:06

Pastel blue and bright red is hard and could look odd.

Just buy yourself a new dress to go with the shoes! Wink

Jubaju · 27/04/2023 06:13

Get the gold coloured ones 👌🏻

Forgottenmypasswordagain · 27/04/2023 06:14

They come in gold too. Black would be my pick because little black bows are cute.

Also agree. It is not the red and blue that is the issue so much as one is a pastel and the other isn’t.

CheersForThatEh · 27/04/2023 06:16

Pair them with something else like a maxi dress and wear them in summer.
