To think 11 is not too young to travel on a train alone?

Please settle a debate! Happy to hear all opinions.

Is 11 years old, starting y7 in Sept, too young to take a one hour train journey, without parents but with a slightly younger child? Put on at one end by an adult and met at the other end by an adult, with a phone and data, and train staff informed? No behavioural problems or SEN.

Having read about an individual called Andrew Miller over the last few days - a man who claims to be trans, who dressed up as a woman to abduct a primary school aged girl who’d missed her bus home…. And subjected her to 27 hours of sexual assault.

I’m happy to stick with my decision to transport my DC myself. And to advise others to do the same and not put children in vulnerable positions on public transport (or whenever it doesn’t show up).

This is only one of the monsters we are hearing about, presumably because of the trans angle, it having taken place in Scotland and the dispute over whether to house said person in a man’s or women’s prison….. There will be a lot more we are not hearing about.

Very disturbing. This poor girls life is ruined.
