My Neighbour collects Dog S**T

I live next door to Victor Meldrew, really not a very nice person.

Few years back he knocked on my door at 11.30pm at night and told me to turn the Fing music down. There was no music playing, I have a severally disabled child who was asleep in bed. He then reported me for making too much noise for using my washing machine and tumble dryer too much. I live in a detached house. Even when the council came and done their inspection, they too could not see what his problem was.

I’m a considerate and quiet neighbour who keeps myself to myself.

So advise please. Victor Meldrew has a dog, he is very good at picking the poo up and putting it in a doggie poo bag, but ! For the last year it has sat on his patio table (bags and bags of it) this has now been move to his front garden, to join the numerous amount of full poo bags piling up.

My laundry room door is not too far away from his stash of poo, which I do sometimes leave open. I’m concerned about the amount of flies I had last year happening again this year.

He’s not an approachable guy, what do I do or it is his garden and he can stash dog poo if he wants too? 🥴 AIBU to report this or is it none of my business.

I would definitely report to Environmental Health and also Social Services. This man clearly needs help.

Skybluepinky · 27/04/2023 21:38

Sounds like he has mental health issue, Mayb the start of dementia.

It sounds as if he is or is becoming mentally unwell, or is developing cognitive issues.
Hoarding dog excrement is a very peculiar thing to do.

Pretty much what I was going to say.

I think you do need to do something about this guy but from a distance.
Sorry to hear he's so grumpy and intimidating, maybe he's unwell ?

ScattyHattie · 27/04/2023 22:17

It does seem odd behaviour as lazy people tend to avoid picking up poo altogether and its a relatively simple step to put the bags into his gen waste bin or a council one during his dog patrols.

Assume would report him to environmental health as that's going be awful come summer, but possibly they should refer to adult social care as sounds like could be sign of mental/cognitive decline than just being an arsehole neighbour, especially given all the non existent noises he's heard.

HeartshapedFox · 27/04/2023 22:24

There was a story about this in the press today - man was fined £700 for not clearing up dog mess in his own garden. So definitely worth reporting!

Report him to you local council. Don't engage with him. Say nothing to him, but definitely report him

Really sensible advice.

Startyabastard · 27/04/2023 22:44

Vile, rancid man.

kingtamponthefurred · 28/04/2023 12:37

Maybe he is planning to create a very large statue of his dog and enter it for the Turner Prize.

Startyabastard · 28/04/2023 18:41

*If I were you, I'd tell the full story to the council saying that the man can be obnoxious and his mood van be variable. Don't skimp on this.
Tell them that if he finds out if it's you reporting, that he could get aggressive. Don't leave that part out because you want to give an accurate view or minimise the outcome if he guesses it's you.
