Is a cleaner worth the money?

I'm considering hiring a cleaner. I have a small house, 2 bed and just kitchen and lounge downstairs.

im a single mum to one preschool aged child and also work full time and have found recently it hard to keep up with all the house work

hiring a cleaner would put a dent in finances but I could afford it by cutting back elsewhere. Just wanted opinions from others - do you find it's worth the money?

and how much per month do you generally spend on a cleaner?

Yes worth it. I have more free time now, just the daily tidy and laundry to do. I’m less stressed.
I pay £14 p/h

We have a cleaner, she spends between 2 & 4 hours a week doing the cleaning (4 bed) and the ironing. Costs £13ph.

Well worth the money as I commute and hate spending the weekend doing chores, and I'm crap at ironing, takes me forever.

A good cleaner should be able to do your house in an hour, if it's just cleaning. Make sure the house is tidy before they arrive so time effectively.

I spend £120-£140 a month and it’s well worth the money to me. I know that whatever happens in the week the beds will be changed, the bathrooms and kitchen will have a proper clean and the floors will have been mopped, furniture moved etc.

£90 every other week.
fortnightly cleaning is a perfect way of affording it

I pay £18/hour. But only have my cleaner come every two weeks, so £108/month. Worth every flipping penny! I can't be arsed with cleaning when I'm running businesses and parenting two teenagers. Happy to outsource that.

It's definately worth it. You can always make more money, but you can never make more time.

Also £15 / hour. They bring all equipment and cleaning products. We have four hours a week for a five bed / three bath / three storey house. They also change the beds and wash / hang the bed linen. Can leave list eg under sofas, inside fridge etc and they’ll tick them off as they go.

£15/hr and it's the best money we spend. I think I'd cut most other things before I cut the money for our cleaner. Honestly, the headspace it gives me is invaluable.

Definitely, ours is fortnightly for two hours and does 2 bathrooms, the kitchen and a good hoover and mop throughout. We both work full time , the time saved at the weekend to be with DD is worth more than the money to us (60pm)

Definitely worth it. We have our every other week and then keep on top of it in between. I’d like weekly but she doesn’t have space and I don’t want anyone else

Yes - similar sized house and I ahte cleaning. £50 for 3 hours (outer London) and it's well worth my sanity and free times at weekends. She's great, I'd cut on other things before losing her.

Absolutely worth it to us !
Large 5 bed 3 bath house
5hours a week and they are fantastic
We pay £17 an hour

we have a 3 bed terraced, and have a 3 hour clean per fortnight. Very worth it for us! £19 per hour, £136 a month for a great company who pay a decent wage and always a brilliant service.

It’s worth the money if you get a good one and can afford it. I wouldn’t have one if it left me short in other areas.

I have 4 hrs a week @£15 each = £60 Previously I had every 2 weeks for 4 hrs but at a lower rate. £15 is the norm in London. Its indulgent but makes my life so much easier.

I definitely think it’s worth it.
That being said we have two toddlers so find that the ‘tidy’ element of cleaners only lasts 5 minutes but the deep cleans of the bathrooms and kitchens and floors are what make the real difference.

We spend about £80 per clean and get them fortnightly. We find this is enough to keep the bathrooms/kitchens in decent condition as long as I nip around with my little cordless hoover and detol between cleans.

£45 every two weeks. SO worth it for me. Makes my heart sing to come back to a spotless house after my long commute on the days she comes.

The best money I spend and the last I would like to cut.
I love having a clean house and unfortunately it is painful to keep it so. £15 an hour and I need 12 a month.
Worth every penny if you get the right cleaner.
The best I ever had was a beautiful beautiful young girl ( model beautiful) whose child had health issues. She needed to work but could not commit to a fixed schedule.
I did not care when she came but was delighted every time I saw her. She was extremely professional and knew how to deal with issues I did not know about.

I still miss her terribly (child grew up of her problems thanks God!)

I'd say yes providing you find a good one you trust and that your house is generally fairly tidy.
My house is very cluttered (something I'm working on changing) and I found I had to spend a huge amount of time moving things in preparation for the cleaners visit to the point I figured I may as well just clean the surfaces now I've cleared them all!

I've just got rid as after 13 years I just feel it's not worth the money. I used to pay 25 per week for 2.5 hours and now they are quoting 65 . Can get someone for 40. They don't do a good job and I still have lots of cleaning to do. I slways rhought it was worth it but now my old cleaner has finished I see I'm not spending thst long doing my own cleaning.
