Which parties have leaflet dropped at yours?

Ahead of the elections I've got the usual pile of junk through from the different political candidates - conservatives, liberal democrats, two independents but I never ever get any from labour or green.

What are the leaflet drops like in your area? Do they influence your vote at all?

None here. In fact, in 11 years living here, no political leaflets have ever been delivered.

Labour and lib dems here as our town in very much a labour town havent had a tory council in years

Nat6999 · 21/04/2023 12:54

If a seat is not a target ward for a party they generally don't leaflet the area. So if yours is a safe seat for one party, then others probably won't leaflet. Ds is standing as a Green Party Candidate in our area but hasn't been given funding for leaflets or posters & can't go door knocking, he is doing his canvassing via social media.

Gufo · 21/04/2023 12:56

Loads from Greens, and one or two bits from Conservative. Tory heartlands here.

Violetparis · 21/04/2023 12:56

Labour, Tory and 2 from The Communist Party which we have never had before ! I read them all but they don't influence how I vote.

CornishGem1975 · 21/04/2023 12:56

Haven't seen anything from anyone.

Peridot1 · 21/04/2023 13:01

Nothing here. The Conservative guy knocked on the door a few weeks ago asking if we needed anything. Hmm. Kicked myself after for not saying a new non Tory government!

I don’t think I will vote. No idea who any of them are and what they stand for locally.

they don’t even have a social media presence as far as I know.

DiscoDragon · 21/04/2023 13:08

We've had one tory leaflet through the door and that is all! I was trying to find information about candidates on the council website yesterday, eventually I managed to find the names of the candidates but no other information about their policies or anything. There are 2 Green Party candidates but can't find any further information about them anywhere, so no idea who I should be voting for.

Madcats · 21/04/2023 13:10

We have a libdem council (who have managed to piss a fair few people off, but I suspect that most resident don't know or care who is in charge - our local newspaper rarely reports local news). We vote every 4 years.

Libdems have sent us a personalised letter and 3 leaflets in the past few weeks. They do tend to carpetbomb with leaflets every time there is an election on.

Conservatives, greens and labour appear to have struggled to field candidates. We've had one leaflet from the conservatives. We have no independent candidates standing, which is a shame. I's much rather vote for somebody who hasn't just arrived in the area.

The active residents association organised a hustings this week (per the photos on Twitter it looked as if about 50 people turned up.

Our postal votes arrived in the week and we'll sort those out this weekend (so it will be an even quicker trip from the front door to the recycling bin for any new leaflets).

mindutopia · 21/04/2023 13:13

I don't think we've gotten any, not that I've noticed, but I'd bin that rubbish anyway. We have always lived in very strongly Tory areas (and dh and I far, far from being Tory voting), so they're out of luck with us anyway. The previous owner of our house was a Tory councillor though, so they probably think they don't need to bother. 😂

Socialdistancechampion · 21/04/2023 13:15

So many non Tories living in Tory strongholds. Why?

OP posts:
listsandbudgets · 21/04/2023 13:20

Lib Dems knocked and have sent a couple of leaflets - chatted with them for a few minutes. Labour put a leaflet through but I expect them to knock soon. An independent leaflet and something that looked to be from a nasty right wing party I don't remember the name of. The last went in the bin -

Nothing from Tories but wouldn't normally be in this area anyway

I've lived in a tory stronghold for most of my life, my family live here and I don't want to move away from them. Mind you, I'm not sure who exactly is voting tory around here as nobody I've spoken to is a fan of them and there seem to be a lot of Green Party supporters in my village.

mamabear715 · 21/04/2023 13:32

I was going to ask on facebook if anyone had actually heard anything from candidates.. I've had one Labour leaflet (they actually don't need to bother, lol, Labour stronghold) I googled the other candidates, couldn't find anything about them.
I'm afraid, if they can't be bothered, then neither can I...

OhmygodDont · 21/04/2023 13:40

Labour and cons both leaflet dropped.

labour very active in photo ops on Facebook pointing out a fly tip or hey look we are labour walking the streets.

con post quite a bit but normally useful stuff like, pot hole on X road to be filled in Y date, or new crossing due to be installed on Y road between date 1-4.

nobody else seems to exist here.

Backtoreality1 · 21/04/2023 13:42

Labour and independents at mine....nothing from Conservatives or Libs I think, but my dog does occasionally 'dispose' of junk mail so I may just have not seen it

OhmygodDont · 21/04/2023 13:43

Tell a lie I’ve just checked it’s a labour coop who knew

IrregularChoiceFan · 21/04/2023 13:59

None.

cryinglaughing · 21/04/2023 14:05

Tory only.
I live very rurally and only the Tory candidate makes an effort to pop by.

Labour have form round this way of removing Tory mail shots of they can.

Our Labour candidate is a very odd woman with strange views and seems to have nothing but contempt for the electorate. She has moved wards this time as it is highly unlikely she will get voted back into her current ward after the way she has behaved.

It would be quite an extreme reaction to move house because you weren’t going to be on the winning side in local elections. Especially as Tory strongholds tend to be quite nice places to live.

Pascha · 21/04/2023 14:40

One general conservative one (not specific to the actual candidate) through the post today and one from our local incumbent who is independent. Nobody else has bothered.

LighterNights · 21/04/2023 14:41

Labour and Conservative have leaflet dropped and Labour came to the door and asked for my husband and left when he wasn't in, they obviously don't want my vote, lol

AllIeveknewonlyou · 21/04/2023 14:43

We just had our first one, labour

Foundryside · 21/04/2023 14:45

We haven’t had a single leaflet. I think we’re in a safe seat though.
