Im booking tickets for me and DH to see him live but my teen wants to come as he thinks he’s funny. Has anyone seen him live? Im just wondering whether his tv/dvd stuff is tamer than what he might say live

What does the tickets/booking say there is normally a bit that says not suitable for under (age) saying that I have .a Dvd of his first stage show and there was nothing in it that wasn't suitable for my then 10 year old.

carriedout · 19/04/2023 21:35

Is it a punishment?

Wishitsnows · 19/04/2023 21:36

Yes I would

msisfine · 19/04/2023 21:36

Only if I hated them

DumDeeDoh · 19/04/2023 21:37

It is fine for a 13 year old, but check the venue

lightinthebox · 19/04/2023 21:38

What did your teen do to deserve the punishment?

greensnail · 19/04/2023 21:41

They say strictly over 14 for Michael macintyre so it depends if you think they can pass for 14. I've seen him live and would be happy for my 13 year old to see him. There will be more swearing than on TV but nothing they won't have heard at school anyway.

MagiMagic · 19/04/2023 21:52

I've seen his new show and he swears a bit and he makes a few low key jokes about sex but nothing outrageous. I'd take a 13 year old. He is very good.

Neededanewuserhandle · 19/04/2023 21:54

I think by 13 mot people can see just how thin his act is.

IsThePopeCatholic · 19/04/2023 21:55

Why would you want to inflict this on anyone?

Barleysugar86 · 19/04/2023 21:56

I don't understand the hate I love his humour. Should be fine for a 13 year old I think.

SoCunningYouCanStickATailOnItAndCallItAFox · 19/04/2023 21:56

I'd take him. My 13yo would love that too. 😏

Phoebo · 19/04/2023 21:56

Probably not, although I guess it depends on what your boundaries are in terms of what you think is appropriate

NameInUseAlreadyAgain · 19/04/2023 21:58

I’ve seen him twice. A lot of swearing. I didn’t take my DS13 at the time. He’s coming this year as he’s nearly 18

uo to you but it’s not the same as when he’s on TV

As an aside we went to The League of Gentleman live show and were shocked some took children as young as 10-12

Ilovepugs2017 · 19/04/2023 22:07

Hmm, just checked the tickets and it does say strictly 14+. He’s very mature for his age and people often think he’s older as he’s very tall but even if it was appropriate would they check for ID? I’m wondering if it would be a bit risky, if they ask for ID none of us could go in and then it would be £200 down the pan 🫣

I’m not planning on taking him kicking and screaming 😂 he genuinely wants to see him live and even said he would love to meet him 🤣

I can't imagine they would check for ages

It’s difficult to know what to do for the best I guess. I mean if they’re younger in an obvious way I guess they would just refuse entry. My younger boy for example is smaller for his age and he’s 9 tho could easily pass for a 7 year old.
My 13 year old is taller than me 😅

Divebar2021 · 19/04/2023 22:16

I’ve never seen anyone checking ages at a comedy gig…. I had to show ID to get into aMicky Flanagan show recently but that was to prove I was the named person on the tickets ( I’m pretty sure they weren’t checking my age sadly )

Dobbyismyabsolutefav · 19/04/2023 22:17

We took my DD with us when she was 13 to see him at the O2. Tickets did state 14+ and my DD looked her age and we weren't challenged. There was a few riskier jokes and the odd swear word but nothing shocking.

ily0xx · 19/04/2023 22:18

Isn’t he known for being extremely PG?

Sandysandwich · 19/04/2023 22:46

I'd take him, they likely won't ask for proof of age for an older looking lad with his parents. If he was with a group of friends then maybe.
What ID would most 14 year olds have anyway? I can't see them wanting his passport

He doesn’t have a passport at the moment anyway so I’d only have his birth certificate really. Tho honestly imo he would easily pass for 14 😊
