What sort of food would you expect to be served at a kids party 12.30 to 2.15pm?

OP posts:
golightlycat · 16/04/2023 09:10

Sandwiches, crisps, cut up veg, biscuits.

Bellyrumble · 16/04/2023 09:10

Lunch
so sandwiches sausage rolls crisps scotch eggs that kind of thing

IrregularChoiceFan · 16/04/2023 09:10

Sandwiches or pizza with some fruit, veg sticks and some sort of sweet.

golightlycat · 16/04/2023 09:11

Or pizza

IrregularChoiceFan · 16/04/2023 09:11

Oh yeah and crisps

MuffinToSeeHere · 16/04/2023 09:12

A generic party lunch so sandwiches, crisps, sausage rolls, veg sticks etc.

LostAtTheCrossRoad · 16/04/2023 09:12

As above. Lunch style picking bits. Were you expecting a sit down meal, or are you worried about what to provide?

DiscoBeat · 16/04/2023 09:16

We used to do big platters of food but had so much waste so we made up little boxes like the McDonald's happy meal boxes - sandwiches, baby bell, yoghurt, mini banana, carrot sticks, little bag of mini biscuits. Cake served afterwards. Much less food waste.

Singleandproud · 16/04/2023 09:16

How old are they? If an older child I would order a load of pizzas to the venue, a couple of bowls of crisps and popcorn, some mini rolls or similar and some cut up veg.
Picky bits always go to waste, pizza never does and the parents or siblings can help themselves too if there are extras.
If they are little ones I would expect smaller more manageable picky bits and more fruit and veg.

youngestisapsycho · 16/04/2023 09:16

All the above 👍🏻

Zola1 · 16/04/2023 09:17

Depends on the type of party

Pizza and sandwiches, sausage rolls, veg, biscuits etc

Or in a soft play or trampoline party etc usually something like nuggets

DiscoBeat · 16/04/2023 09:17

(NB that was for younger children). Older ones we tended to do hot dog and pizza etc.

HarrietStyles · 16/04/2023 09:17

All the parties my kids go to have one I two options:

  1. Lunch bag with sandwich, crisps, fruit, biscuit and a carton of juice.
  2. Hot party food shared in the middle of the table - pizza, nuggets, chips, cucumber and carrot batons etc.
adagio · 16/04/2023 09:23

This year I joined Costco just for their sandwiches, pastries, cookies and the cake - which was annihilated by 35 6 year olds plus some siblings. My god it was so easy and much less stressful 😂

Previous years I have knocked together ham, cheese sarnies plus cakes crisps and party ring biscuits (home bargains are cheap!).

In my area kids party food for big class parties is the same regardless if what time it’s at.

Bigger kid has smaller parties with less kids so I do pizza or pay the venue style food.

Tinkeytonkoldfruit · 16/04/2023 09:27

Either a buffet party lunch (pizza, cut up veg/fruit, crisps, cake, hot dogs in buns go down a treat too and are easy to knock up during the party) or individual lunch boxes (sausage rolls/sandwich, crisps, piece of fruit, babybel, cake). We always provide something for grown ups to eat too if it's not a drop and run party and it's over lunch time- I've done pizzas, samosa/pakora and quiche type offerings in the past.

Genie321 · 16/04/2023 10:50

Hot party food at that time would be great so pizza or nuggets and chips.

BusyMum47 · 16/04/2023 10:52

As above! ⬆️ Although one year, we took orders when all the kids arrived & my husband called the local McDonalds & nipped out to pick up the meals/drinks - all I provided was some extra drinks, fruit & cupcakes. It was so much less stressful!!

Sourfairy · 16/04/2023 10:55

I think the norm nowadays would be pizza, chips, nuggets - but sandwiches and crisps would also be fine. Some veg sticks and biscuits

PinkyFlamingo · 16/04/2023 10:59

Sandwiches, sausage rolls, cocktail sausages, cake and biscuits.

Mustardandchickensandwiches · 16/04/2023 11:07

I find there's so much waste at kids parties.

For my kids ages (10 and 7)I would serve up,

-Two triangle sandwiches (quarter triangles for 6 Yr old and friends and halves for the 10 year old and friends) ham, cheese or jam.

-Bowl of crisps (again, portioned based on ages. Whole pack PP for 10 and half for 6)

  • Half a supermarket sausage/veggie roll pp
  • And enough £1 cheese and tomato pizza for a slice PP
  • Jugs of squash

Forget the veg it never gets eaten and is a waste of time and money.

Mustardandchickensandwiches · 16/04/2023 11:08

Even easier,

  • tinned hot dogs and buns (choice of meat or veggie)
  • crisps
  • jugs of squash
lovemycottage · 16/04/2023 11:09

Pizza, chicken nuggets with chips, sausage rolls, crisps, biscuits, popcorn and maybe ice cream?
Depends on the age of kids?

lovemycottage · 16/04/2023 11:12

And definitely some squash, but some kids don't like it, so I would have some juice, water as well.

Of course cake as well, but so have to say that on our last kids birthday party there's was just a very little kids who actually wanted to eat the cake.

JMSA · 16/04/2023 14:44

Cocktail sausages always go down well.

JMSA · 16/04/2023 14:44

As do party rings (the iced biscuit).
