Could I tint my own eyebrows. Is it a risk

That's it really.

Which tint would you recommend so I don't look like I have catapillars stuck on my face

If you're going to do it then absolutely do this. Don't be tempted to skip it.

What colour are your eyebrows naturally? I know a couple of people who dye theirs and tbh it looks ridiculously fake but they have naturally light brows I think.

They are dark brown but sparse

Really crap reviews for eyelure lash tint on boots website anyway. So will avoid their lash tint. Any recommendations for alternatives??
Lash tint isn't brow tint!

I know but I am now looking for lash too.

I use eyelure every month. Super easy and cheap. What’s the risk?

TooBusyGazingAtStarss · 15/04/2023 22:18

Not risky at all, I always do it. Look on YouTube, loads of videos but basically put Vaseline all around the brow, mix up a small amount of men's beard dye, apply and wipe off after allotted time (or less if nervous). Very effective and cheap and easy.

I used just for men hahaha you get so much more for your money, lasts ages and stays on longer than the ones aimed at women that ive tried!

Mephisneon · 15/04/2023 22:20

I do mine all the time. It's really not a big deal. Just don't go too dark and wipe off regularly and reapply until you get the desired colour. Also do a patch test. Way way way cheaper than the salon. So easy too,i do pay for treatments but not ones I can easily do myself!

Karatema · 15/04/2023 22:20

I recently had a mobile beautician come to my office to tint and then thread my brows and it cost me a grand total of £12! I told her she was too cheap and gave her a tip 😀

largeprintagathachristie · 15/04/2023 22:21

I’ve dyed mine for years, same kind of products as previous posters.
Found salon tinting just didn’t last long enough to warrant the cost.
Home tinting doesn’t last long for me either, but the cost is minimal so it’s fine.

JaneJeffer · 15/04/2023 22:22

Ah ok @Ludlow2 I don't know anything about doing lashes

BettyBootsie · 15/04/2023 22:24

Another vote for Just for Men beard dye - because you only need to use a small amount from each of the colour tube and the developer tube, you get multiple applications from one box so it lasts quite a while, plus it comes in a wider range of shades than you tend to find with eyebrow dyes. I apply it with an old lip brush to get more precision. I do get some skin staining for the first couple of days, but I actually like that as my brows are sparse in parts and it fills in the blanks!!

I do mine and my eyelashes, have done for maybe 30 years now and nothing bad has happened!!
I use Refectocil, they have a good range of colours. I do my eyelashes blue-black, and use 2/3 natural brown 1/3 grey mix for my eyebrows

Hi, how does that colour come out with the grey mixed in? Does it make it the time more ashy, or lighter?
I'm using 3.1 light brown but it's still a bit dark

babypanther · 15/04/2023 22:28

I also use the Eylure eyebrow and it’s super easy. I would say the first time you use it, maybe only leave it on for 5 mins or so before wiping it off, just so you can see what you think - if you want them darker you can always re tint/leave it on longer next time! I also second putting some Vaseline or even just normal moisturiser around your e eyebrows first so the dye doesn’t stick to the skin, or just neaten it up with a damp cotton wool bud after putting the dye on. Good luck!

LittleMrsPerfect · 15/04/2023 22:28

Why is it a massive risk?

for £8 for 24 uses I think it’s worth the risk.

I suffer allergies and eczema and the dye has been fine for me.

Coz it's near your eye and also looks incredibly stupid if you do the wrong shade/apply wrong place.

ThinWomansBrain · 15/04/2023 22:32

wow -I paid around £200 for semi permanent eyebrow 'tatoos' last year - will give this a try when they start to fade.

silverlentils · 15/04/2023 22:32

I use Refectocil and the Refectocil developer, which has always given me good results. I put it on with a small synthetic brush and use cotton buds to clean up after applying it and get the right shape. Have never had a problem. I do my own lashes too, important to test first obviously

Comeonbarbiebrianharvey · 15/04/2023 22:33

Another vote for eyelure. I bought from amazon, it looks the same as what the beautician used. Don't panic when you put it on, it won't look as dark as that, unless you leave it for ages. Patch test and I can't see the risk, easy peasy and looked good.

Comeonbarbiebrianharvey · 15/04/2023 22:36

To be fair I was nervous too the first time I used it, but having seen it takes a long time to stain, and doesn't look as dark when you wipe it off, I'm now confident with it, I always use vaseline around it too.

minidancer · 15/04/2023 22:36

Adding grey takes out the orange( ness) of the brown. Do one part grey two brown (light or dark) make sure to push the tint into the brows so it doesn't just sit on the top, you'll get a more even tint. It's really easy. Do it at night and any stain on your skin will wear off after a couple of showers

Oblomov23 · 15/04/2023 22:38

Massive risk? What a load of fucking shit. I've had mine done in a salon for years, but my friend also gave me a pack and I did it at home myself and it was really easy, no harm done, zero risk, I've never heard such a load of drivel.

PlantKi1ler · 15/04/2023 22:39

It's really easy and cheap, I do mine every month. I'm usually no good at doing beauty related stuff but it's a doddle.

TheMindfulMum · 15/04/2023 22:41

Can anyone recommend an alternative product to use if I have very little eyebrow hair? Someone above said Eyelur comes off the skin very quickly and I'd love something I can apply that would last longer than a basic eyebrow pencil that's applied daily and smudges off, esp in warm weather.

Bit of an overreaction there @Oblomov23 the OP is just looking for some reassurance that she's not going to end up with ridiculous eyebrows!

neighboursmustliveon · 15/04/2023 22:44

I've been doing mine over a year. It's not a risk and really easy to do. Amy staining of the skin comes off easily enough - if you are worried, do on a Friday night.

I paid £5.99 for a box and it's still going strong. I used to pay more than that for one session at the saloon.

Eyebrows are fine to do yourself. Lashes on the other hand..!!

I use this - Schwarzkopf Brow Tint Professional formula Eyebrow Dye Brow Tinting Kit with Gentle Permanent Colour - Dark Brown https://amzn.eu/d/4tjttVW

I'm a total idiot with this sort of thing and I manage it.

This is the one I use. Really easy and effective. I need to do mine again so just remember tomorrow to do it.
