Full disclosure. I'm a 48yr old man, happily childfree (or is it childless, I don't know the correct terminology on so many things these days, due to my old age! Ha!)

However, I only discovered the AIBU threads when my sister, who has 2 kids, asked my opinion on something a few months ago and sent me a link. I've been hooked ever since!

I love being an uncle to my nephew and niece - all the fun, none of the responsibility, etc. I'd never have had the guts to have my own kids, despite many opportunities. I'm far too selfish and financially insecure.

AIBU, to enjoy reading all these threads sometimes on my breaks at work. Or should I just "get a life" and find something else to occupy my time because it's really none of my business to be commenting on things which have nothing to do with me?

I've just signed up, so will abide by the vote - if most people say: "bugger off" I promise I'll delete account.

Either way, hardly important! Ha! I'm just on a very slow day!

You’ll also note that the majority of post on aibu are nothing to do with parenting so anyone’s opinion is valid.

I think it’s just like in the old days when you’d enjoy a gossip about your neighbours or watch a channel 5 ‘documentary,’ or, I don’t know, line up to hear about the Oscar Wilde trial. There’s nothing better than a bit of drama that won’t and doesn’t affect you.

None of what's shared here is really our business but, as people post voluntarily and ask for comments, it becomes our business iyswim.

Some of the posts are fascinating and show me things I've missed out on (and most of the time I think 'thank god for that), like hen parties and the utterly ridiculous weddings people go in for now. And the bloody awful relatives some people have, the cheeky fuckers (abbreviated to CF here) who are all take and no give.

Makes me very thankful for my simple life.

I agree with you. Interesting, entertaining and sometimes really insightful.
My dh often joins me in discussion over a good AIBU. Gets us very animated.

Well, that might explain the lack of relationships ‘beyond the sexual’, though that would also mean there are women (or possibly men) somewhere with a kink for giant bearded men who punctuate all utterances with ‘Ha!’which is pretty niche.

No need to announce yourself, we have no idea who anyone really is behind the user names so just give your opinion on things you have one on. Whether you have a penis or a child isn't relevant.
