Lip fillers?

Raspberryclouds · 10/04/2023 09:47

I've got the opportunity to get them done today for next to nothing as it's somebody close to me who is doing them.
I think the offer is 1ml, I've never had them before but just not sure.
I've attached an image, I know they aren't thin but the top lip is much smaller than the bottom one and also slightly uneven.

I've had filler before so I know what to expect in terms of pain and such, but lips are so hard to get right. I know 1ml isn't a huge amount but there are so many obvious lip jobs which look rubbery and fake.
Not sure whether to go for it, don't want it to be a downwards spiral. I'm 32.

Lip fillers?

Top lips are meant to be smaller than bottom lips in general. That is totally normal. And honestly you have lovely lips, leave them alone.

MaireadMcSweeney · 10/04/2023 09:51

Don't do it. Uniform plump lips look dull and generic. You have a lovely mouth.

KimberleyClark · 10/04/2023 09:51

I’d love to have lips like that.

RudsyFarmer · 10/04/2023 09:52

I think so it just to know that it’s not worth doing in the future. I’ve tried a few times and all it does is blow my lips up for days like I’ve been in an accident and then disappear to nothing and it’s never worth the trouble.

RudsyFarmer · 10/04/2023 09:52

*do

Cherryana · 10/04/2023 09:52

Don’t do it. You have lovely lips .

I have had lip fillers and am very pleased but I paid a shed load for a medical doctor to make them look natural.

The bit that puts me off is not the filler - it’s the ‘by a friend for low cost’- just no. This is your face not a training opportunity.

Meandfour · 10/04/2023 09:52

1ml in your lips would look very obvious and fake. Your lips are lovely as they are. I think you’d regret it.

Raspberryclouds · 10/04/2023 09:56

Thank you, didn't expect such fast replies. I've decided to not go for them and go get my hair done instead

Don't do it.

Especially not by someone who is going to be practicing on you.

Top lip is suppose to look smaller.

Lips are so difficult to get right, I would only go to a reputable medical clinic.

IceCreamWoes · 10/04/2023 09:57

What would be the point? Genuine question. If you had a life long issue with your lips and this was going to be the difference between you feeling confident or being really self conscious, I can see the benefit of going through with it but it sounds like you'd not have even considered it if it was cheap. Just seems...pointless to have chemicals injected into your body for no real gain other than "someone I know I can get me a discount"

AllIeveknewonlyou · 10/04/2023 09:57

Your lips look really nice so doing hair instead is a good idea

CoraPirbright · 10/04/2023 10:03

I think that is an excellent choice - enjoy the hairdressers! Btw I was going to say that your lips are wonderful as they are!!

Raspberryclouds · 10/04/2023 10:05

Thank you :)

In 3D life nobody notices your lip is a few millimetres off. This is probably caused your teeth misaligning ever so slightly. I would put the money towards fixing your teeth as they are the scaffold behind your lower face.
I have seen good correction of uneveness with fillers because it's very hard to judge how much to put and exactly where. It'll be the very expensive filler doctors who can do this and you might need several visits. I'd put the money into fixing the dental issues not letting your lips sit back evenly.

ilkleymoorbartat · 10/04/2023 10:08

Honestly your lips are lovely. I'm so glad you've said you're not going to do it, It always looks so obvious and unnatural (I know that's a desired look for some). But you look beautiful as it is.

KnittingNeedles · 10/04/2023 10:09

Your lips are absolutely fine. You do not need lip fillers. Nobody "needs" lip fillers.

CrossEyedCrossFit · 10/04/2023 10:10

You can always overline the thinner size with lip liner close to your lip colour to create symmetry

Really?! There is nothing wrong with OPs lips whatsoever

Flossflower · 10/04/2023 10:15

Don’t do it. You have beautiful lips. They will only look false afterwards.

philautia · 10/04/2023 10:18

You have beautiful lips, I mean it! Please don't ruin your face with lip filler. It always (ALWAYS) looks awful and fake. You've been blessed with what many would say are perfect lips.

DappledThings · 10/04/2023 10:25

Can't fathom in the least what you think is wrong with your lips.

Liveoppositeastream · 10/04/2023 10:27

Another vote for don't do it! Your lips are already lovely and natural looks so much better than some of the strange sights you see around now.

twinklystar23 · 10/04/2023 10:28

Personally hate the look of fillers. Makes people look like a duck from their side profile as it distorts the natural line.

A family member of mine is training as a beautician I can't believe it's OK for them to injections and be certified with one year of training, let alone allowing novices to practice on people's faces with little or no supervision, just no.

retrosteamband · 10/04/2023 10:31

I feel like you’re lacking common sense here. There is no way lip filler should cost next to nothing, it’s supposed to be a skilled medical treatment. It’s not something anyone can do, you can end up with botched results if you don’t pick a practitioner properly. Have you researched the side effects and the cost to rectify them? What are the qualifications of the person injecting you? Are they even a medical professional? Lip filler is okay but you need to go somewhere credible. It should never be a last minute decision with a cheap price tag.

CrossEyedCrossFit · 10/04/2023 10:42

@Cigarettesaftersex1 Her lips are fine but they aren't symmetrical. Most people aren't symmetrical. She wanted the unevenness fixed, the symmetry that she's seeking to reach with fillers is a dental issue.
Her teeth are not completely straight, some project forward and some backwards and thats why one side is 'sunken' back in. It looks normal because the disparity isn't too big and because in 3D our eyes 'correct' symmetry plus angles and speaking hide this. If you take a photo straight on you're bound to see all sorts of asymmetry from one eyelid droopier, one eye smaller, one eyebrow more arched or thicker, one nostril more flared, one side more wrinkled or saggy... it's very normal but if it bothers you fix it at the source, it's the teeth in this case.
