To think it's rude for dh to sleep so much

DH can just fall asleep in the daytime. It's awful as the kids are playing, meaning it's up to me to deal/tend to them making sure they're fed, toileted & clean etc.
He will just randomly snooze on sofa but sometimes it can be a 2 hour nap! I feel quite hurt..AIBU to feel like this?
It's almost like he doesn't want to spend Time with me and us? Or he'd much rather be elsewhere

Am I overreacting? It's not all the time but it's weekends usually when we don't have much planned and mulching about at home.

He should be looking into why he is so tired as there could be a medical explanation for it.

I used to have to take a nap in the afternoon because I was anaemic. I am neurodivergent as well and find that I get easily drained by the outside world and need to 'recharge' all the time. Depression can also sap you of all energy.

Just suggesting he is 'rude' sounds a bit too simplistic if he hasn't explored the reasons why he needs so much sleep.

Haven't read TFT however is he overweight or does he snore a lot? He may have sleep apnea and not be able to help himself. If he does snore and randomly rather than regularly get him to see a sleep specialist. Record him because men are notoriously in denial about this.
Good luck. A diagnosis changed the lives of DH, myself and DS.

It's a deal-breaker for me as well. One offs, or a snooze as a result of a terribly broken night's sleep I can deal with, but not a regular thing.

I went away with a friend for a long weekend a few years ago and she took a two hour nap in the middle of the day. Absolutely ruined the trip for me.

I'd also suggest looking into why he's sleeping so much.

I nap every day. It’s good for you. It’s better to nap and feel refreshed than to be tired and not want to do anything

Wendycoping · 28/07/2024 07:43

Dh does this - he snores as well so presumably has sleep apnea. He refuses to go and see anyone about it. I find it a massive turn off if I'm honest.

Mine does this too for 2-3hrs a day on weekend days. Short naps are fine if you’re at home anyway but this means if we go out he’s always looking to get back early so he can have his nap. He actually goes up to bed. I’m pretty sure he has sleep apnea but he won’t see anyone about it. He also has a nap when he gets back from work.
