Was I unreasonable at the garage air machine

Waited behind someone using air machine for tyres. Someone else then pulled in and waited then behind me.
Guy using the air took as long as possible, slowly replacing caps etc. Then he just sat there. I jestured could he move on there's a queue. Assumed he was just looking at phone. He didn't move.

So I pulled up close behind him and proceed to machine. Then he tells me his money hasn't run out yet so I can't use it. So he's sitting there until the time is up. I honestly thought what knob head does this. I sarcastically offered to pay for his air. His money ran out and he drove off swearing at me, but only once he was some distance away as I think he was actually a right coward..
The family behind were laughing at him.
I did my tyres, left some credit for the family behind and was on my way.

Someone in the States did a study of how long it took people in a parking lot to back up vs how long it took them to back up if someone was waiting for their spot.

Yep, people took longer/took their sweet time if someone was waiting for the spot. People suck.

She didn’t hurry him up. He sat there like a lump and when OP went to the machine, he said his money hasn't run out yet so she can't use it.

Omg what a jerk. Ironically I was doing the same yesterday on my mams car with a queue and was so chuffed to have finished in under 2 minutes and be able to pass on the remainder to the car behind.

Yeah he's a nob, obviously. But with that study, surely some people take longer out of nerves? Nothing makes me more incapable of reverse parking than feeling like I'm holding someone up. I get all stressed and make stupid mistakes and feel like I take way longer than I do when nobody is there.

@Ihavehadenoughalready ah but for parking having lived overlooking a large car park I've seen the types that are so so bad at manoeuvring out of a car park space they will literally wait hours for a moment where there are no cars to reverse out of a space to avoid the fluster of someone watching them embarrass themselves.

Having watched numerous times people literally turn their engines back off the minute someone else indicates they want their space; I now creep up to parking spaces I want without indicating unless I absolutely have to because I know full well they're never going to get those reversing lights on otherwise.

It's never even occurred to me to see if the previous person had any time left. I just put my 50p in and start.

As for passing on unexpired parking tickets that's a thing pf the past round here as we don't habe tat type of car park any more.

Prefer to use my own tyre gauge TBH - cost about £15 from amazon 10 years ago.
