To ask what this is on my neck? (Picture)

So for the last few weeks, not sure exactly how long I've felt like I've had a small cut/scab on the back of my neck, didn't think about it at all. My friend asked me a few weeks ago if it was a hicky and I was confused because it definitely isn't. Still didnt think about it, until yesterday my mum asked what it is? She took a picture of it for me and now I'm a bit concerned?

Ringworm maybe
Try an antifungal cream

SwedishEdith · 06/04/2023 13:32

Is it ringworm?

RJ57 · 06/04/2023 13:32

My guess would also be ringworm.

efeslight · 06/04/2023 13:32

Could be ringworm which is fungal I think

Hazelnuttella · 06/04/2023 13:32

I get eczema in round patches like that.

Kranke · 06/04/2023 13:33

psoriasis or eczema?

NotCopingWell1 · 06/04/2023 13:33

I also get eczema patches like that. Often around the inside of my elbows or backs of my knees.

Bananavape · 06/04/2023 13:34

I really hope it isn't ringworm, how do you get it and how do u treat it??? What are the symptoms?
I do have psoriasis or eczema on my eyelid so could be that? Had that for years tho and never spread so I'm not sure

Looks like eczema to me but maybe pop into a pharmacy and ask them to look at it?

NoParticularPattern · 06/04/2023 13:34

ringworm would be my first suggestion but if it didn’t clear up after an antifungal then it could also be discoid eczema

Alrightknow · 06/04/2023 13:35

I think ringworm too. It's usually a bit itchy. A pharmacy can give you a cream that will clear it up in no time.

BeachBlondey · 06/04/2023 13:35

I had the exact same thing on the underside of a boob. The doctor gave me cream and it cleared right up. I think it was something fungal.

Hazelnuttella · 06/04/2023 13:35

Ringworm is not a worm btw, it’s a fungal infection like athlete’s foot. You just need an anti-fungal cream.

But as you have eczema elsewhere I’d try an eczema cream on it first and see if it clears up.

MrsPelligrinoPetrichor · 06/04/2023 13:36

Looks like ringworm. Ask the pharmacist for some cream, easily cleared up.

ThreeblackCats · 06/04/2023 13:36

Pharmacist here. That is ringworm. A fungal infection. Get yourself to your pharmacy for an appropriate anti fungal.

Bananavape · 06/04/2023 13:36

I have steroid cream for my eyelid so could try that on it?

OP posts:
wyntersuhn · 06/04/2023 13:37

I would treat it as ringworm, but if it doesn't go away it could be pityriasis rosea, it starts with a herald mark that looks like ringworm.

Bananavape · 06/04/2023 13:40

Thank god it's not actually a worm hearing that's made me feel a lot better!!

Berlioz23 · 06/04/2023 13:45

Don’t use a steroid cream on its own, it can make a fungal infection (ringworm) worse, you need a fungal cream known as clotrimazole cream, easy to get otc

Ahhhhhbisto · 06/04/2023 13:48

Discoid eczema

whyhere · 06/04/2023 13:50

Do what the pharmacist said!!

No, steroid cream shoulld be a last resort as it thins the skin.

Onelifeliveitright · 06/04/2023 14:09

Definitely ringworm. My dh had it and it was from our guinea pig! Easily treated with cream.

DrGregHouseFan · 06/04/2023 14:10

It looks like either discoid eczema or ring worm. You can use thrush cream over the counter for ring worm. It needs to be consistently used daily as ringworm can be stubborn to get rid of. Steroid cream can help if it’s discoid eczema which you’ll need to see a doctor for.
