As I was gettin off I heard a man hooray which has really got my back up I look to back of bus and give a dirty look. I got off my stop sat at bus stop and breasfed my child cue baby stops crying and I could carry on with our afternoon. Baby's cry for gods sake what could I of done?

On a "bouncy", so presumably busy, bus? I wouldn't have been able to with any of my DC whilst safely holding them and holding onto the railing and the pram.

The pram has a brake? You don't need to hold it, but that's one situation where even I, usually no boo to a goose, would ask for a seat if no one offered . "He'll stop crying if I feed him, would you mind?".

MelchiorsMistress · 04/04/2023 17:52

You could have got the baby out of the pram or you could have got off the bus to feed the baby earlier.

Some people are sensitive to noise and a baby crying is an especially stressful noise to listen to continuously, as it is supposed to be.

Thanks for replies! I was due to get off and baby started it's one busy main road I would say 5mins max wouldn't of had time to get baby out settle and back in pram again i dont mind feeding wherever i am safely also baby feeds on demand so was asleep then woke up clearly starving..I had my toddler with me so that's why I didn't get off the bus sooner.

5mins is nothing. There’s nothing you could have done so pay that man no mind.

Teafor1please · 04/04/2023 17:53

There's no way I would have got a baby out the pram on a moving bus, with toddler too. Baby was safe in the pram.

Killingmytime · 04/04/2023 17:56

Man was an arse to say it, but most may have been thinking it. I have disabilities and babies crying pains me so i’d def have been thinking it, but wouldn’t have said anything!

If that’s the case, then he could’ve gotten off the bus.

In the future I would pick up your baby to comfort them, or if a long way to go feed them. Babies cry, but there's usually a way to placate them a bit

gogohmm · 04/04/2023 18:00

But five mins is tricky, 4 stops is much further in these parts, stops are pretty far apart, at least half a km

If you did that round here you could be waiting until the next day for the next bus!

@L3ThirtySeven In London, 4 stops takes about 2 minutes.

I was in a similar situation with baby in a carrier a few months ago. I was standing and was quite new to baby wearing so didn't feel comfortable trying to breastfeed in the carrier yet. A man sitting down was staring at us so I said "If I can sit down I can feed her". He did give up his seat and I fed her on the bus...some people won't offer though, you have to be quite forward unfortunately. The man in your story was still a total knobhead.

Gah sorry OP. Wrong thread!

megletthesecond · 04/04/2023 18:36

Ignore him. He was a wanker. Everyone else would have felt for you.
Babies cry, no drama.

They should probably buy some ear buds or noise cancelling headphones then since there are no laws about babies crying and making loud noises in public.

Well those sensitive to noise know where the exit is?

And the cunt cheered when she got off? Not that fucking sensitive to noise is he?

Can't believe you defend an arsehole like that!

CMVB · 04/04/2023 18:37

Personally I’d have breastfed on the bus. But that guy was a wanker, get that it’s annoying but no need to be rude about it

custardbear · 04/04/2023 18:37

What an arse! My DD14 would really suffer as she's ASD and is overwhelmed by noise and especially children and crying babies and even She wouldn't be that nasty

Hard of hearing or language issues?
